I must admit, I was a bit skeptical using Doritos. Huh? 🤔 My similar Taco salad recipe and Coating the chicken were the only 2 I know. (The Taco salad dressing I usually use is just Pace Picante`, and my sister liked Western/Catalina.) But you came thru again.😊💫 So awesome. All of them look delicious! Were you using a baby spoon to stir the sour cream and salsa? 😉 ✌️❤️🎶

Biggest reason I like watching her is she's down to earth. This is the way most people cook. From scratch stuff and natural is great but with prices most of us are getting stuff canned and frozen. It's also a lot easier.

Yes, she uses ingredients that anybody can find easily. We don't have to go to specialty stores to find these ingredients. Plus they're quick on a busy week night and flavorful. I've made many of her recipes and every single recipe I've made has been delicious. I have a binder for my recipes and I have a special Julia section.😊

For summer salads I love mixing bottled ranch dressing with bbq sauce. I make bbq ranch chicken salad. I just use bagged romaine lettuce, diced peppers in different colours, canned corn, can of black beans, shredded tex mex cheese and a package of pre cooked chicken strips. Everyone makes their own big bowl up and pours that dressing on. I just keep all the ingredients in separate containers so nothing gets mushy and you can just add the amount you want to your own salad.

Do you mix the ranch & bbq in equal parts?

No I just pour some ranch in a small bowl then squirt in the bbq sauce and mix it up. Taste it and add more if needed. It's all in how bbqy you want it.

I'm in California and thus reminded me of the summer. I would hook up the Instant Pot outside on the patio table and cook out there! My house is too small and it would get too hot if we used the stove. I worry about the heat this summer! We don't have AC.

If you can find it, try Dorothy Lynch. That's all we've used in taco salad since I was a kid. It's from Nebraska so idk how much range they sell it regionally.

@@vyemarshall859 I have not had them get soggy. I only make a big enough salad that I know I am going to eat, this doesn't make great leftovers. Also, start with just a little of the dressing, because it's sweet. Gradually add it as you've tasted it.

I am been making the salad with the French dressing for years, I use Fritos instead of Doritos and I don’t use ground meat if I’m taking it as a side to “summer get-togethers” I always bring home an empty bowl! Our favorite to make with Doritos is sheet pan nachos! They add such a great spice to the dish and since there are several flavors you can switch it up so sheet pan nachos don’t get boring 😊

I love all of these recipes. I grew up eating the Doritos taco salad and still make it for my family. We have changed the Catalina dressing to Great Value creamy French dressing. It is a bit milder flavor than the Catalina and we love it.

That last Recipe the Taco Salad, my Mom made that when I was a kid, she used Fritos and French/Catalina Dressing, the Nacho Cheese chips hadn't been invented when Mom and her friends came up with their version, we also added Avocado, because we had Avocado trees, she also used Cherry Tomatoes sliced in half and whole large Black Olives, that was my one of my favorite Summer Food memories of childhood.

I can't wait to try these recipes! I'm going to have to get my husband to stop by the store and pick up some doritos on his way home from work tonight! He's probably not going to be happy about that, but he'll be happy with the food when he eats! Lol! I'm making a whole chicken tonight, but him stopping on his way home will save a trip out tomorrow since he's off. I love doritos! They are my favorite chip!
