Iceland Arctic Circle Bucket List: One Day on Grimsey Island

One of the most beautiful experiences in Iceland is crossing the line over the Arctic Circle.
But Iceland isn't exactly located inside the Arctic Circle, and the North Pole is always moving, which is somehow "pushing" Iceland outside of the Arctic Circle completely.
However, as of 2023, there is still a place in Iceland where you can go to cross over and accomplish this bucket list travel experience. And that is Grimsey Island in North Iceland.

Before you left, you parked your car by the ferry. We are planning to stay overnight in Grimsey when we visit. Do you know if they would allow for us to leave the car there overnight? If not, is there a taxi there that would drive us back to Akureyri the next day?

I think that it is allowed to park there overnight. When I arrived there in the morning, it was almost full so I can presume some of the cars were left there overnight. It is the parking spot next to the port and there was no sign to not leave your car overnight. It’s also not disturbing the traffic or anything. Since Akureyri is not so close and the taxi would cost you a lot, I would say just park there. It felt really safe when I was there
