Yes, the girl playing Chyna IS Jennifer Aniston! We were on a sketch show called "The Edge" in the early 90's and she was great in it!

I still have episodes recorded on VHS. Your Mariah Carey video was one of the funniest things I have seen! I would show that to all my friends.

Loved the Edge, proves both Julie Brown and Jennifer Aniston are great comedians

Julie Brown is such a genius. This was a brilliant way to comment on how Wilson Phillips went from being simple, girls next doors (first album) to sexy lingerie-wearing, adult women (second album.) I love Wilson Phillips but this is bloody fantastic haha!!! Go Julie!! ❤

@something0anything I know we only shot 20 episodes-and it was insane! Prosthetic make up is the worst! But the show had moments that were ridiculously fun!

I KNEW that there was an hilarious spoof of Wilson Phillips on "The Edge"! It's been many years since I've seen it, but I watched all twenty or so episodes. I loved it.

*sigh* I'm gonna get flogged for this but it's weird looking back at something like this that you remember laughing at and thinking it was hysterical, and then some 20 years down the road you watch it again and you think, "Damn. That's kind of fucked up." I always dug Julie making fun of no-talent hacks by calling them out for being no-talent hacks, but a solid half of this is just making fun of Carnie Wilson's body and weight. I guess I've just grown beyond denigrating people for their looks. Not, like, what they wear or how they wear their hair and shit like that, but for being heavy, or older, or anything along those lines. And knowing what we know now about how horribly she had to struggle around her weight and the way the public came at her about it... I dunno, man, it just doesn't make me laugh anymore. :\

sounds like you once had a sense of humor, but time has made you stuffy and overly-sensitive?

DJMichaelAngelo people grow more aware as they age of what's actually funny verses what's a bunch of hackey bullshit that punches down.

It always amazed me how Carnie was absolutely gorgeous.. with impeccable style.. had a fabulous singing voice.. way better than Wendy or Chyna.. and the only thing people focused on was her weight.. in other words.. people are judgement assholes

It's ironic because the Hollywood types that wrote these skits are now the same people that currently push the ideologies that would get you cancelled if you made these kinds of jokes today. It's almost like they set the rest of us up for failure.
@beatnickblanket3 жыл бұрын
@@phubans Don't you think it has more to do with just growth on a human level and the fact that we now realize these types of jokes were never that funny and kind of cruel? I think Julie has grown as a person; she is nearly 60 now, after all, and not a slender person herself. I recently bought the DVD set of "The Edge" and they REALLY laid into Delta Burke for being fat. Like, it was legit MEAN MEAN MEAN. It's hard to understand how it was ever something to make fun of, you know?

Hilariously ironic...given Julie Brown is literally as big now as the character she played in the video. I don't think any of us saw that coming...
