My first month in the business I ordered 500 business cards and I went door to door in my neighbor hood and said I live down the street and I’m a local real estate agent and growing up down the street I know the area really well. I just wanted to introduce myself and give you my business card. I went to 120 houses and if nobody was home I left my card in the their mailbox. I got 7 solid leads and contacts and one conversion in the first month. Doesn’t hurt to get your feet wet and talk. Also, build relationships with local businesses and new housing developments. Leave a stack of cards at as many locations as possible. Also, apartment complex bulletin boards are great these people going into the office or common areas and eventually leave apartment life and into home buying now they have your card.

@@DejaVuDream.0 I get letters and business cards to this day in the mail. Keep in mind when I did this ten years ago to the surrounding neighborhoods where I grew up I didn’t have any issues. @@enzoferrari88 You can receive business cards via a proper sealed piece of mail delivered by an official postal worker. You cannot go around and put things in people's mailboxes- It is illegal. While you may never have gotten caught by a person of authority or been reported by someone, it doesn't change the fact that one can get into quite a bit of trouble for doing do. Not to mention it's unethical since it's for an individual's profession. Do not encourage others to do so. -Edit: I'm not condemning you. Just be wary about giving this kind of advice to new agents.

Congrats! Like everyone said, just explore the websites of the companies in your area, see what they offer compared to what you're looking for as a new agent (obvious things that come in mind are: how do I generate a lead? will you teach me how to use the MLS? what mentorship is available? what SPECIFIC training is available? the last question is important to nail in, so many firms will say "we have a ton of training" but when you onboard with them they will offer you nothing). Remember, as a real estate agent you are interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you. Know your self worth as firms can easily find replaceable agents but your time is limited.

@@itsmontse1204 business management and entrepreneurship. But when I chose my major I didn’t know I wanted to do real estate. In hindsight I wish I did marketing. I’m not sure my degree will help me very much aside from a sense of security if being an agent doesn’t work out. My parents made me get a degree. I don’t regret it but I don’t think it’s always necessary either Most of the successful real estate agents I watch on KZbin suggest not going to college and just jump head first into real estate. Congrats on getting the license, I am still working on getting mine. Which social media site besides Facebook do you think is the most helpful for fledging realtors?

I’m in Tampa myself near USF. I’m currently taking my courses now and plan on taking my exam by the end of the month. How do you like KW so far?

Is it optional to do a maths subject in high school for real estate?
@lactationrooted4 жыл бұрын
Hello, it depends on your state requirements...However, California state exam does not have a math section. Either way, don't let the math stop you if you really want to become a Real Estate Agent.

Hahahah was that your first cold call @9:00? Im a technical support agent and my first call went about like that one where i was freaking out after it lmaoo. Its so nerve wrecking the first couple times. Also whats the deal with the scripts? Are you supposed to follow those for work or do they just help you navigate a phone call more effectively? Im about to take a course to become an agent and had no idea about scripts. Id rather not use them tbh. Also i hope you have become successful while doing this! I see this was a year ago.

How soon into getting your license did you start prospecting? I feel like I need to get my scripts down before I call!

Don’t hesitate, just go for it. You’ll learn as you go. You delay your results by waiting. You think you could ever reach your destination by being parked on the side of the road? You got it! Find a mentor & execute. No other way to be successful in this industry other than constant action! It took me 6 months to figure that out & it’s paid dividends!
