Julie my Mom taught me that you can change the color of the mat in a picture by painting it. Painting it also allows you to do custom colors and designs. She used acrylic paint but I prefer Rustoleum spray paint.

yes, you can paint mats. this one actually had a faux mat so I gave it a real one.

@@JuliesDesignsandSigns I had 3 framed pix with water damaged mats. I repainted them with 50cent WM craft paint and got a perfect fix.. I hung them back up just in time for the this hurricane season! You mentioned you should have watched some IKEA videos before you went there but in your defense you were packing up a family of 6 and evacuating so it was not a normal road trip lol!! Jo

I really liked that basket in black, having the same issue trying to paint a faded blue basket white so you gave me an idea to just try black.
