You know the car market is screwed when a lot of them are literally the price of a house.

I love the vanity plates for your channel Juliet, I love the Caravelle, my cousin has one, very comfy when fully loaded, Its the price that does not make sense because it sits in the garage for 10 months of the year

The Volkswagen t3 “bus” was legendary when I was growing up as well. Most variants had the 2.1 liter “boxer” engine hanging out back, and they were comparatively crude, if characterful things. I also remember when the Synchro AWD versions were launched - everyone was in awe of them, especially with the magazine adverts featuring a blue example launching up a sand dune, nose in the air. VW realized that the bus was getting pricey for the average family, and launched a cut price 1.8 liter version, complete with funky colors and a set of driving lights deleted. That sold well. But with the 2.5 and later 2.6 Caravelle “executiv” versions that came with the 1990’s, VW decided to move the bus upmarket, as you have highlighted. And that was it. Screw the average, middle income family. Let them eat...Suzuki or Renault?

Here in Au a new one cost less than an old one 🤣 The passenger area in the Comfortline is excellent, with tables and storage for wet things is halfway to a camper. Twin sliding doors are handy and with AWD this is a great thing for softroading like beach days. Good to see decent sized brakes on a van for a change too, most are a bit meh. 80 litre tank will give even the twin turbo version a +1,000 km range. I've been wanting a cheaper used one as a runabout camper for a while but they don't seem to depreciate as quickly as I would like.

At that price one can get the top of the range Opel Zafira… with three hundred thousand Rand to spare on solar panels for the house.

a) David Kramer advertised the old 2.1 litre b) The price of the thing! Even in Caravelle trim it is still a Transporter with more leather and slightly better aircon. The only reason for buying would be the space, but if you compare it to the similarly priced SUV's the value for money is quite low. c) Correct abbreviation for kilowatt is kW and Newton-metre is Nm. If you want to be a trustworthy technical reporter/reviewer you should have these right. Never mind what the graphic designers and marketers conjure up. d) The price of the thing! e) Always enjoy your reviews, thanks. f) Makes sooo much sense for my family, but that price!

They are only that price because our buying public have power over them. Lack of competition but I had a Ford Transit, loved that, now they have an auto

But, that is a multivan, no caravelle. The seats are able to remove and you can change the position. This must be the multivan

I am sorry but the price is just ridiculous, their 22 seater crafter doesn't come close to this Caravelle. I would rather get me some Hyundai H1 or even a Kia Grand Sedona for much less than this ridiculous price

Family's will go into SUV's case in point VW has stop selling South Africans Sadans all together and yes that pricing is proof that it's business that will be buying it. It's a shame but at the same time we don't live in world were married couples will have more than 2 kids🤷♂️
