Estate sales never fail to make me sad. I hope I can get rid of my stuff before I die so people won’t pick through my life.

I don't know, I see if as a good thing You can do a few things. Potentiality leave things directly to family, in which case they'll probably take some of the highest- value items, and then go through the rest of the belongings in a similar way strangers would, just going through the rest of it and trying to decide what to throw away. You could donate things to specific people or charities. Or, your things could go to An estate sale. Worst case scenario though , your things would sit there, abandoned. Not for sale or anything. Gathering dust And falling apart over the years. For me, that would be the worst case. I'd much rather have strangers trying to buy some of the better, more useful things to help them in some way, rather than have the stuff go to waste

I went to this sale on day 1 and the last day, two hours before closing. The amount of stuff that was not purchased due to extremely high prices was ridiculous. If I were the family I would be very upset with the amount of stuff left. I purchased 11 items from my two trips though. I tried to negotiate on some silver pieces at the check out table but they wouldn’t budge. My prize was the turkey plate by Blue Ridge Potteries!!! I purchased two of the large David Winter houses as well. The Japanese fur with the broach!!!! Omg someone actually purchased it! It was stunning!

those bent wood tubular leg dining chairs in the formal living room are called ant chairs and go for $120 each in some places! Very MCM ! The aqua colored sewing machine upstairs is probably better than new machines and is circa 1950-60s about 120 in my area ! They over charged for that rug in the attic ! this is a upper mid tier estate sale.

Arsenic was used as a dye for both clothing and books in the mid- 1800's. Only a fraction of green books used this dye. If the book is less than about 150 years old, it's fine. The practice was stopped entirely by 1880.

When scanning a room for the overall effect, like the workshop at 9:54 it's important for the viewers eyesight to go s l o w l y. Yes it feels too slow for the person holding the camera but it's not. My brother did that for a while, zooming, giving us 'whiplash'. He was surprised. He didn't feel like he was doing it so fast. It takes practice.

I agree with the comments that some things are over priced, but the Tabriz Persion rug if purchased in a store would likely be over $5000. It sounds as if the prices were eye-watering to you, which means they are all probably over-inflated, but initially I thought that maybe it was just that from country to country, things vary substantially in value. Cute though that scale which you bought for $12 was, I think you'd pick that up for a couple of pounds in UK. Occasionally I saw a price that reflected the same kind of value as here, like the rug for $1200 which seemed to be silk and hand woven. But really all came into perspective for me when I saw that they were even trying to sell their half-burned candles. At that point I think I'd have been fleeing down the driveway back to the real world. Really cute and well loved house though. It was cosy and charming.
