One of my all-time fav fights as well, because of all the pre-fight garbage Rosario was talking and Chavez managed to shut him up nicely.SWEET FIGHT :)

Everyone seems to overlook Chavez's awesome defensive skills. The slipping of the punches are simply beautiful, just beautiful 3:18-3:50

@ichirima Well according to my pops,(being that I wasn't even born when this fight took place),Rosario was talking heavy trash about Mexican fighters, how they weren't skilled as P.R fighters and how Rosario was gonna send J.C.C back to Mexico in a coffin.

chavez was not a complete fighter. he was slow as hell. thats why anybody with speed gave him trouble. but he knew how to cut the ring really good along with great inside boxing. his timing was impeccable which made up for his lack of speed although at the cost weathering some punishment in the early against faster fighters but with that adimantium chin he it wasn't as big a deal. finally he was also very heavy handed and epitomize that classical boxer who can ko fighters with a hook to the liver.

Chávez was a beast. He didnt care if fast fighters hit him. He resisted even the haviest blows. A fast fighter isnt a complete fighter either, cant go toe to toe and rely on hugging. This fight alone is more exciting than all of Whitaker's fights combined.

Slow as hell? Seriously? Chavez was a pressure fighter who possessed all the elements of greatness. Your comment is a fine example of boneheaded ignorance. Stop commenting, watch more fights, and perhaps then you won't make such a fool of yourself.

i'm not denying chavez was a great fighter. read my full comment dumbs. but the reality is that chavez was not a fasted handed boxer thats why oscar de la hoya dismantled him. he made up his lack of speed with excellent timing but some one like oscar and especially floyd would have given a sound defeat.

HyogaX9 Like I said, you don't understand much. Chavez was well past it when he fought Oscar so of course he appeared slow. So much nonsense, dude. Get a clue.

even at his prime he would have lost. besides they were other boxers at that that would have given him a loss like roberto duran.
