I had a job cleaning buses with a steam cleaner one summer. There was a guy who worked there as a mechanic and he'd fix the engines of any broken down buses. And he was a GIANT! I mean this guy was huge, a Hells Angel, he drove a ZZR1100 motorbike and it looked small when he sat on it. His name was Gibbo. And I remember running out of detergent in my bucket so I needed to get some more to clean the buses and coaches, and there was an entire blue barrel of it just right there but I couldnt shift the bugger to pour some out into ny bucket, and this Gibbo he walked over, his legs like tree trunks, all 20+ stone of him, and he simple tilted that barrel like it was nothing and poured me out a bit into my bucket. Like it was nothing! That was when I realized what strength was. Some guys are just giants.

Hes a beast, he does not post much squatting and deadlift but i guarantee he is near 800 on both already which is a great base. Bench has little carryover to overhead compared to the opposite, however he has proven he a pressing specimen. He has already done 500+ seated overhead press which is world class without him strictly training for overhead. I think he will be world record breaker for overhead within 4 years, once he has mastered the techniques and stability in strongman events

@MattRhodesSport you know the sport? You brought up Thor for Axle and didn't mention the world record holder mate, or the last 3 people that even held the record. Hooper, Biby and Hall. Hatton is going to struggle with the clean, not the press. There's a few guys capable of the 200kg atm, which is his best so far. @ulfg4692Ай бұрын
Moving from bench-specialist to strongman? That's not going to be as easy as it might seem, even for someone as strong as Maddox. There's not that much use of having a strong bench in most strongman events. Squats, deadlifts and overhead-presses as movements (not necessarily lifts) are useful, but benching is far down the list. Most strongmen I speak to, don't bench that often, and if they do, it's usually incline bench as OHP accessory for the log and axle. On top of that, he's going to have to get his cardio up by a LOT. Movement/loading events and reps-for-time will put your cardio to the test, hard as h-ll, and this might take quite a while to build up.
@MattRhodesSportАй бұрын
All true. It will be very tough but very interesting to see!

No, I get thinking that smaev could wrestle a bear but no. A black bear yes, probably would have a chance. But if he fought a brown bear, a Kodiak bear. The big ones weigh probably 1100 lb more than he does. And think about they carry themselves around on their legs all the time. They can climb trees and they can run 30 to 40 mph. They are literally walking animal tanks.

@MattRhodesSport that would be pretty cool! I love stuff on animals from the wild. I’d rather see him in armwrestling. He has nothing to prove with strongman events, and they tend to be more conditioning/tactics based, and have more room for injury. Only problem with armwrestling is the money and the fact that it’s not all that trainable, you sort of have it or you don’t, whereas with strongman there’s a bit more room for error if you’re mediocre at some events and good at others.
