Just for clarity.. Julius is handled properly by very professional and loving people every day. My daughter rides him 4 days per week and others with more experience take him out as well. All you are seeing here is a rare time that I decided to go take a video of him for you by myself. (Most are not thrilled to be on camera). So this is not indicative of his normal life, which is probably why he was so confused with me. He does what every other person wants him to right away. :) There hasn’t been time for me to get trained up yet, I’ll get around to it, but he spends 99% of his time with better people for him.

You are a great Dad, and I guess we know intuitively that you have professionals handling Prince Julius. I don’t blame the folks behind the scene-I don’t want to be on camera either, but I’m thankful that you are made of sterner stuff. I love to watch this beautiful horse, so thank you for sharing him with us.

Hi from Ontario Canada!! I totally enjoy your videos, they give me the giggles because you want so much to please your viewers, you freely admit that you're not an expert, and I love your honesty! Kudos to you for learning how to get Julius to put on a show! .....just tap that stick on the ground, no need for all the fancy footwork we see other trainers demonstrate. I am a big fan of Yvonne, followed Queen Uniek and others. What I'm wondering now is how do horses handle being transported from the Netherlands to America? PS I live near the formerly famous Windfield Farms (which no longer is, having been replaced by the University of Ontario) where Northern Dancer is buried, the Canadian horse that won the Kentucky Derby.

I know nothing literally about horses, I love to watch them. You are 1000 times better with horses and you do it out of love. Glad you posted a video, I was fearful with all the tornados in the plaines that y'all might have had some storm damage. Prince Julius is magnificent!

Belle was born about 10 days via a surrogate about 10 days before Uniek passed away. She is a gorgeous little filly and will do her mama proud ❤️

The riding crop is an extension of your arm. When you want Julius to run, shuffle your feet/shoes on the ground and make tisk tisk sounds with your tongue and teeth. He looks great by the way! Thank you for the update.

Prince Julius is so sweet, loving, beautiful, & majestic; just like his mama Queen Uniek! I wish I could give you pointers but if you watch the Fresian and Horses channel with Yvonne & the gang ~ you will definitely learn a lot about caring for, & training Fresian horses. I absolutely love when he went by you toward the end of his run & looked right at you; that was so precious! Thank you for sharing your precious time, energy, family, fur babies, & videos with us! Also, I have to thank you for making me smile or laugh even when I don’t think I can, or want to ~ I deeply appreciate you all. May God Bless ALL of you & yours 😇🙏🥰🦋🌹💕♾💯

Sound is often used in training horses and it works very well ... Also certain words ...braaf ...goed zo ...can be used as well as many .. The horse needs to learn and understand sounds and words . Repeat them many times to reward good behaviour and it will pay back .

How wonderful to get an update 😊he’s his mother’s son if he loves eating, Uniek was the same. When they show the Friesians they follow from a distance behind with a rattle can of sand and stones and wave the crop you have. You got the perfect result from what you did, also try to get him to run both ways round the dry lot so he doesn’t get too used to turning in one direction. He’s super shiny which is a sign of good health! I use coconut oil to repel bugs for my dog and recently saw a ranch owner does the same for her horses - maybe you could try that unless someone on here knows a better way. The lady rubs it sparingly on the belly, neck and butt

He gets lunged and ridden properly all the time by people who know what they are doing. I’m just not one of those people. Just was walking him around today. The nice ladies (and my daughter) who are working with him just don’t want to be on camera all the time.

Julius looks fantastic! He is so shiny and has a beautiful trot. Just took some time to settle in and find the right combination of feed for him. 😊❤ Happy that you are all well after the last couple weeks of storms. I'm just northwest of the Twin Cities and storm systems are blowing in and out every 15 minutes some days!

he's so beautiful. Uniek really passed her grace to him 💖 thanks for sharing him! he seemed like he knew what to do. he probably follows commands in Friesian too. i know Yvonne on Friesian Horses had some guidance videos of her practicing with those horses that might help!

Julius, more than likely, is accustomed to hearing voices speaking Dutch to him....but, with patient repetition, he will learn these same commands in English. Horses are smart....

Julius looks magnificent! Healthy, happy, and shiny. It's obvious he's been loved for the past 9 months he's been with you because he looks to you and comes up to you in all the videos. I think that is a good sign he feels safe with you. I ride horses although can't afford one. Don't listen to the mean and judgmental people who spout off without seeing 100% of Julius' life. Most of them just watch horse videos without ever getting on a horse and think somehow that qualifies them to tell your professional training team what to do.

Thanks for posting update. Was wondering how you all survived recent storms. Love the Friesian extended trot. Just an fyi, holding phone in landscape mode will be easiest to follow Julius. Just think how your TV screen is positioned. I blame Apple for defaulting recording to portrait 😅

Friesians are the black labs of horses. They live to interact with humans. He would follow you all over the arena. So get out there and walk around with him, and add a rubber ball with a handle for fetch... Things like that. He will truly connect with you. At least for starters. You're doing great! Love your videos and commentary.

Julius is beautiful. You can tell he has the same flowing gait that Queen Uniek had. It's wonderful to be able to check up on one of her offspring! It's nice to meet Cosmo, too. You will learn what you need to know over time. Just watch and learn. Best of luck and thank you for sharing!

Yes, I can vouch for that because I've seen Julius myself last month. Best place. When he was at the Dutch Royal Stables, I read that his working hours consisted of long periods of standing still.😦 He's MUCH better off now.❤
