the reason why i love the Poppy War so much is because the first half are like three traning sequences and i LOVE training sequences, the action doesnt really come until later in the book

The Tamora Pierce series I fell in love with was The Song Of The Lioness quartet. It follows the main character of Alanna who swaps places with her brother so she can go and train to be a Knight and he can go and study magic (win, win). You follow her as she trains, grows up and tries to train/grow up without people twigging she's really a girl (think Mulan but with medieval knights). There's everything from battles to romance and a little bit of everything else in between. She's just one of those rare main characters that is both totally badass yet completely relatable and human.

I am on vacation in Washington and I should probably socialize with my family but watching booktube sounds so much better. That sounded mean to my family. Anyway, I was in the store 2 days ago getting supplies for my vacation and I stumble across books, of course. Anyway it was a bunch of cooking books and adult romance books but I found Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I casually pick it up and realize that it’s signed by Cassandra Clare!!! Tamora Pierce is one of my all time favorite authors-she defined my reading as a kid. I LOVED Tempests and Slaughter so much, and reading the Immortals series directly after was really awesome since Arram is in that one, too. I will have to say that as much as I love the Alanna series, she definitely has improved as a writer over the years. I still love her to death, but dang, there were some rough bits early on.

My favorite Tamora Pierce is The Immortals series, which is the one that T&S is based off of. Daine is absolutely my favorite. I would suggest reading them in either chronological order publication order. Some definitely go together and there are great cameos in most of them. And I am all about the cameos!

For Tamora Pierce you should start with Alanna: The First Adventure, however Wild Magic, is the first in the immortals quartet where Numair(Arram) first really comes in. But it is the second quartet after Song of the Lioness in the Tortall series.

I LOVE tamora pierce 😊 my favorite series of hers is Beckha Cooper/Terrier! It’s about a teenage guardswoman, sort of like a policeman, in Pierce’s main capital Tortall. You really get to see the main character grow up and get better at her job, plus she has a DOG starting in the second book. Her Lioness series is the most famous and also fantastic! Hope you end up reading more of her books!

Tamora Pierce honestly made me love fantasy when I read the "Song of The Lioness" series. The first book is called "Allana: The First Adventure," and Pierce makes you fall in love with Allana, as she is a total badass.

TAMORA PIERCE IS MY ALL TIME FAVE AUTHOR!!!! I have multiple copies of a bunch of her books. Her books to me are what the Miss Peregrine's Series is to you Jesse, lol. My two all time fave series from her are: The Immortals Series and The Protector of the Small Series. I do recommend reading them in this order though: Song of the Lioness quartet The Immortals Series The Protector of the Small Series Beka Cooper Series Numair Chronicles Tamora is the author that turned me into a reader so she will always have a special place in my heart.

For tamora pierce books, I definitely recommend starting with the song of the lioness quartet, then moving on to the immortals books. They are all quite fast reads and wonderfully telling! However, the song of the lioness really sets you up to understand the Tortall universe that Tempest & Slaughter is set in. I live in southeast Missouri and would love to discuss books with you if you do a local book club!

jessethereader I was recommended it by I friend and was really drawn to it by the simple style, the drawings and such. I don't usually read poetry so I thought it would be a nice change. Also, by the little I've read of it I think the sort of topics she writes about are some that really interest me. On another note, I'm the girl who commented a couple of weeks ago on the fact I'd bought "Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children". I finished it a couple of days ago and I loved it!! I can't wait to read "Hollow City". I'm sure this series is going to become a favourite! Thanks so much for being the reason I've discovered these (and many more!) wonderful books to read!!

The first series I read by Tamora Pierce was The Song of the Lioness Quartet and I highly recommend starting there. A lot of the other series branch off from the lore in that one so it's a good entry point. It was the first Tortall series she wrote and honestly one of the best. I really hope you do read more of her books! It's a little sad that she's been writing books about badass women since the 80s but so many people are only getting on board after she released a book with a male protagonist. Not that that's any fault of the individual readers! I just want her other series to get the recognition they deserve in our current YA community.

My tbr is out of control as well, so I just started asking myself when I wanted to buy a book "is this honestly the next book I'm going to start reading?" and if the answer was no then I just didn't buy it and honestly that's changed my book buying and it helps so much! I'm going to be reading Fawkes for BTAT and I've heard it's awesome so I think you should read that one next!

Also I vote for a video on your book buying ban because I've been using a "try before you buy" strategy to at least slow my book buying down... with only partial success. 😂 I keep finding ways around it! So I'd love to hear someone else discuss the issue of trying to curb rapid book accumulation, and your vids always make me laugh.
