Your garden is looking fabulous. I really like your Hydrangeas and I'm on the lookout for one called Tinky Winky as I just love the name. I think if I saw a Polkadot Polly Foxglove then that would be coming home with me. I Googled it and there's another one called Polkadot Pippa in the series. Isn't it funny how we all like different things in our gardens? When you said that your brother wasn't impressed with your Carex grass Paul it made me think of my new garden ornament which my brother calls a hideous monstrosity whereas I absolutely love it. Good job we're all different. Great video gentlemen. Perfect viewing when there was no Beechgrove or Gardeners' World on t.v. Have a lovely weekend and hope you're feeling more relaxed after your stressful week at work Andrew. Take care. xxx

Thanks so much Wendy. That’s a great name for a hydrangea! Sometimes you just see a plant and then before you know it, it’s in your car on the way home with you - the bit in between is a blur (well that’s my excuse!) It would be a dull world if we all liked the same things, as long as you’re happy with your ornament, that’s all that matters. Andrew and I sometimes have a different view of plants too but we always come to a compromise. Glad we could fill the gap of Gardeners’ World and Beechgrove this week. We’ve had a great time at Tatton today, I went in the week on my own, as Andew can’t get leave out of term time. The garden is coming together perfectly and we’re back tomorrow to continue. It’s helped being in the open surrounded by plants after his week at work. Thanks as always Wendy xxx

Greetings from Melbourne/Australia, l just discovered your videos; they have been such a great help to us. l love your garden and your knowledge of plants, Like the boys in Denmark l got rid of the lawn and my partner and l are planting a cut flower garden, packed full of flowering plants, l am a retired florist, and l love flowers, but cut flowers have got so expensive that we are making our garden work.. From you, l have learned new varieties of plants, that l have never known but for some of the plants that you have, the only way l can find them is as seeds, l never planted from seeds before so wish me luck... Keep your KZbin videos coming, We are still in Winter so we are busy planting, hopefully by this Spring our garden may become alive and full of flowers. Thank you for all your advice.. Cheers, and thank you so much indeed, Mario

Hi Mario, 😊Thank you so much for your very kind message. It is great to hear from you. Glad that you are loving our videos, it is so wonderful to know that people are enjoying our content. Wow, the cut flower garden that you are planting sounds amazing. We would love to see some photos of this as you progress. I absolutely love cut flowers and putting different flowers together. Lars and Allen are amazing in Denmark 😊 Growing plants from seed is exciting, I will add a link to our guide on sowing seeds we filmed earlier this year - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqSvaIilZ9SnZ9E Australia is an amazing place. I have family over there. Keep on watching and enjoying our videos. They are made with a lot of love. Happy Gardening from us 😊😊

@vanessahawkhead6316 Thanks so much. We have enjoyed every minute bringing the garden back to life over the couple of years we've lived here. Plants grow pretty quick so yours will soon be established. 🙂

Your garden is looking beautiful 😍I´ve never seen Eupatorium ravaged by slugs!?Terrible this year!I have 3 big clumps in my garden and they are untouched by snails! There seem to be regional preferences!?The new plants are soo wonderful, specially the Salvia Black & Bloom and the perennial Foxglove.I have few three years old Salvia Amistad and they looks great (zone 8).At the wintertime they stay in the frostfree shed...Our snails are not interested in!But thats no guarantee!Veronica is one of my favourites!Me and the bees love the colour, spikes and height and they are so simply to propagate by cuttings...Thank you for sharing the video and hugs from Germany

Thanks Tina, it's the first time that we've had problems with the eupatorium this year. We're really excited to have the new salvia. The flowers are really lovely. We'll have to bring it in when the weather gets colder but its staying in a pot so we can just move it easily. The veronicastrum is always a good choice for us and the bees. We had a white one but it got too overcrowded and died this spring. We love the pink one though and the slugs leave it alone. Hugs from the UK, take care Tina 🙂

Your hydrangea are looking beautiful. I have one large foxglove bought in early spring. I have lost the tag so I am not sure whether its the perennial type so I am just leaving it to see what happens. Love your garden tours always something new to see 🥰

Thanks so much Margaret, the hydrangeas cone into their own at this time of year, don't they. We have grown a few perennial foxgloves in the past and they only survived for a couple of years, so giving this one a go to see how long it lasts. Thanks again 🙏

Greeting from Kentucky guys, your garden is looking so beautiful! I love a mop head Hydrangea. I have two of them and due to my acidic soil, they both have sky blue blooms. I also am growing Salvia "Black & Blue". Like you it is not hardy here in my zone 6B garden. I love flowers with blue/purple tones. I like Carex grasses, but never thought about growing some in a container. I might give that a try. Happy gardening to you both, James

Thanks James, I can just imagine your blue hydrangeas are a beautiful sight. We're the same with liking the blue and purple flowers. We've just found ours very susceptible to wind damage and lost 3 stems, before we got around to staking it. We've took some cuttings to ensure we have plants for next year and will be bringing it indoors. Yes, grasses are also happy in containers. We're not having much of a summer here with cloud and showers at the moment but hopefully we'll get better weather to come. Take care and happy gardening too 😀

@@MadAboutGardening We here in Kentucky are still in a heatwave/drought. It's 96 degrees heat index today with heat warnings to not stay outside long. I am giving my hydrangeas four gallons of water a week and they still are drooping in the afternoons, but they spring back in the evenings. We have a slight chance of rain on Wednesday. It would be the second rain this month. Right now, my only gardening task has been heavy watering every morning. I am so wishing for autumn to arrive LOL. Take care, James

@user-zt6qh3mx7v That must be tough, I know we wish for sunny weather, but you're having extreme heat aren't you! I can just image how good the hydrangeas feel after that water, all refreshed again. Best wishes James and take care 🙂

Lovely, lovely garden! Can you tell me which way your garden faces, and what sort of soil you have, please?
@MadAboutGardening4 ай бұрын
@margaretcraggs6713 It faces north west but is fairly open. The soil is loamy.

Everything is looking wonderful 😀👍 Noted, Scabiosa 'Kudo White' for next year 👍 How tall is that E. Planum, about 3.5-4ft tall and which one as there is a few Planums? I spotted the Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue' but you didn't mention it, mine has 3 flowers (2 in colour) on and 4 new shoots about 1" tall 😀 The herb planter is looking awesome 👍That rose is so full of flowers upon the fence, stunning. Salvia 'Black n Bloom', was this before the wind got it or is this what's left of it? I'll be putting mine on my website maybe tomorrow but when my older ones catch up I'll show a 4 comparison of S. Black n Bloom, S. 'Black n Blue', S. 'Rockin'® Deep Purple' and S. 'Rockin'® Fuchsia' 😀 All in all, the garden is looking wonderful 🌼😃👍I'm seeing hardly any bees this year 😒 A Wollemi pine would look great in there too 😊 Wonderful , thank you both for sharing the vlog 😃👍

@martianleaderrichy1520 Thanks Richy 😊. It's just plain Eryngium planum that we grew from seed and it's about 4 ft with loads of individual flowers. You're right about the Echinops, we forgot to mention it. Only one has been able to grow properly as the slugs have slowed the other two down. The flowers are fascinating aren't they when they fully open. The Salvia was staked after filming 🤣. The rambling rose reminds me of blossom it's so full of petals. Looking forward to seeing more photos and your salvia collection. Back to tatton tomorrow and Sunday so hope weather is dry 🤞. Take care 😀 👍

@@MadAboutGardening Hello Andrew, That's still pretty tall for the normal Blue Eryngo (ave 3ft) must be loving it there 👍Ech. Ritro, mine I think is high up away from most slugs n snails, well the lazy ones 😃Ohh, a while back I mentioned we have Scabiosa 'Black Knight' 1 of my fathers opened today, it's stunning. Mine seem to be about a week behind, I highly recommend it. I'll put a pic on site when I can, not tomorrow, last day off and not enough hours for what I've left to do, thank you UK weather 😒I hope the weather is best suited for what you need to do over the weekend at Tatton and the garden is going to plan. I bought more border plants today 👀Some are going up 6ft in the gutter 👍Don't mention Salvia, Paul might read it 🤣Take care both of you, enjoy your time off 😃👍

@@martianleaderrichy1520 Thank you so much Richy, it’s really tall isn’t it, and taller than Paul expected. Maybe we should try growing the slug prone plants up high like you do! That Black Knight Scabiosa sounds amazing, I love the dark coloured plants so this would fit perfectly in our borders. I’ve been for the first day today at Tatton and the garden is looking beautiful. Weather wise it’s been good with only a few very light showers. Hope it is good tomorrow too. I won’t mention Salvia to Paul, but I did notice he moved the black and bloom to the front and it was staked beautifully (thanks for the advice with this one!) Hope you’re having a good weekend.

@@MadAboutGardening Sorry for the late reply, I was asleep when you posted and back at work the next day, up at 3am for 4 days then 2 off and today has been gorgeous 28C🌞Not done anything with website yet but took a lot of photos today and planting, building things etc etc. My Scabiosa still hasn't opened yet but I think 2 might this week, can't wait 😁 Tatton, yes, I did see the Short vlogs you posted and it was looking fantastic but such a shame it all gets taken apart again 😒 I'm in love with the 2 Eryngium x 'Lapis Blue' I bought at Elizabeth's, the blue is so intense ❤👀 I have photo's but will need to resize them. She introduced them at Tatton in 2008. I gave the new Eryngium 'Topaz' it's own pot, still quite short and no flower yet. I'm sure the Salvia will be doing well all staked up and sprouting flower stems a lot like mine is. I'll be putting a pic of mine on the website to show what a beast they are 😁 Won't get much done though as next 4 days on Late shift 😒 Hope you're both keeping well and have a wonderful weekend, take care for now and happy gardening 🌼😃👍

@martianleaderrichy1520 Hi Richy, don't worry, I know you're busy working hard. Hopefully your Scabiosa has opened with the sunshine of the weekend. Thanks for watching the shorts, we have a longer video to edit of the show so will be working on that this week 😀 We are helping to dismantle the garden which is a pity but what goes up must come down 🤣. You inspired me to seek out a Lapis Blue eryniguim at tatton which is flowering beautifully. You're right about the intense blue. Thanks for sharing the breeding history, I'd never have known it was another of Elizabeth's. Looking forward to seeing more photos on your website. Don't work too hard and take care 😁👍
