Laura, I’m loving this evolution of your garden space. You know, as I’m getting older, I have realized that things I once didn’t care for, I now love 😂. I think it’s more that I’m open to new and different things. Plus the world of social media exposes me to new things, which is how I met you! Thank you for your garden knowledge , your wit & humor and most importantly, your friendship! 🥰

Hi Donna!!! I love seeing you here! You know, you have been a source of inspiration to me many times! The entire time we were putting pickets back I kept thinking of you and chuckling thinking back on our past picket discussions! 😂We are just two peas in a pod and I wish we lived closer! You’re a great friend! 🥰🥰

Your garden is looking so beautiful! What an eye you have for landscape design. I have to tell you that ever since I first found your channel a couple of years ago, I can't drive by a house with a long driveway and garage like yours without visualizing how it COULD look if they would only turn it into a garden like you did. I had never seen anyone do this before and I just think it's brilliant! It makes me wish I had a long driveway to turn into a garden...and the new shed looks like it has always been there, it just fits right in, so pretty.

I did this too! Previous owners continued a concrete driveway into the backyard with red stone. We never parked there and it became a weed haven every year. About 5 years ago, I decided to remove the stone, add soil, and make a cottage garden out of it. One of the best decisions I ever made!

The pathway curves you added are just right 👍. I am in 9b/10 SW central Florida and every seed I got started germinated and then in one day the sun fried every single one! And I had them shaded for the afternoon & evening. So I will be going with starts next winter bc we had no cold days this year. In my neighborhood we dropped down to the 50's only a few nights. Even in the shade the temperature got to 100+ several days in May and stayed in the 90's. I picked the wrong year to grow from seed!

New sub here. Wow, you've got the gardening midas touch to create a beautiful side garden from a driveway.. As a seasoned gardener, it just blows me away what you've achieved in such a short amount of time! I love the look of the square tiles on top of the gravel, and at 9:50 when you talked about placing circular stepping stones in your herb garden, I thought why not try tilting the same square tiles into a diamond shape by turning them 45 degrees for the herb garden walkway. You wouldn't be introducing another hardscape into your design, just a different geometric shape. It might work, might not, but that's part of garden creativity, right. As an artist, it's easy for me to see possibilities in other people's gardens. Love your idea of transition steps on the slight slope. It would look lovely! And it's very smart of you to make a troublesome spot in your garden into a wonderful opportunity. Also love your airy "see though" plants. They add a beautiful layer and texture without the bulk. They also dance gracefully in a summer breeze. You mentioned some of your plants getting twice as tall (or more!) as usual this year. I had the same thing happen in my garden this Spring. My knee-high Allium got chest high and the Tulips were exceptionally tall. I think this phenomenon is a garden gift from God. I have no other explanation for it, do you? Enjoyed the video!

So much has changed in the garden since the Wine and Weeds tours, and all for the better. You are one of the most relatable gardeners here on YT with a beautiful garden. You should be so proud of what you have achieved . That watermelon plant better live after all that effort! My twins came home with a runner bean plant from school but them both succombed to a slug attack after being planted. Still have not lived down the deaths of last years sunflowers from school.😢

I like all the changes you made (except I do miss the garage-garden's charming cottage planting before the boxwoods made it so formal) and think every one of them is an improvement over how it was before.
@HowsItGrowing
@HowsItGrowing 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Certainly a lot of thought went into that big change. I know it’s very deceiving sometimes on videos, but that previous space was massive raised veggie beds that would never be able to bloom and thrive in the shade from above. Then just a long row of dahlias along a fence. When those weren’t in bloom it was an empty mass of dirt for 10 months. That’s a long time with emptiness. I actually don’t find the boxwoods formal in this setting. If a heavy concrete urn or statue was in the center, and different more structured plantings in between I think it would look much more formal. Thank you for watching!! I think it helps to explain the reasons behind things. Have a great week!!

Those are rhubarb forcers, I think that’s what you’re asking about. They are by the amazing potter Peter Wakefieldhandmade.com

Did you consider staggering the pavers? Just a thought.

We did lay them out in a couple different patterns and straight looked the cleanest and less competing with everything else in the garden. Thank you so much for watching!

You are so spot on! Thanks for saying this! I feel the same. I think I got really bothered by a nasty comment. They said “you’re always changing everything. You have taken away all the charm” Of course I find that comment ridiculous and rude, but, I let it linger and bother me. Thank you for being kind! 💜
