Kailee, I've been following your channel since you were in high school and, I must say, you look so light and free, in a way I haven't seen in quite a bit. Many people are afraid to give up certain things because, but it is often when we have the courage to let go that life truly rewards. I really hope things keep looking up for you, even if this is an emotionally conflicting time. As for your TMJ; I have bruxism, which is a bit different, but I was diagnosed at the start of the year (I had a really bad flare up) and have been wearing a mouth guard at night for a few months. The cracking and stiffness have not gone away quite yet, nor have I stopped grinding my teeth during the day, but I definitely wake up with a much more relaxed jaw. Maybe this could help too? You should definitely have a chat with your dentist, if you haven't yet. All the best x

Hi!, I never used botox for my TMJ, but when it got to the worst it ever was, getting a mouth guard to wear at night was a game changer. I wore it every night for a a few months and took acetaminophen and ibprofen regularly to bring down the swelling (happening inside by the joints in your jaw) and my pain completely went away. I was in pain for years and the mouth guard completely fixed it.

Love the haircut!!! My hygienist recommended I started wearing my upper and lower retainers again after complaining to her about jaw pain. I wear them every night and don’t have anymore pain. I replace it every couple years via retainer club but it’s still cheaper than the $500 month guard

I grind my teeth a lot at night, to the point where my jaw hurts so much in the morning and feels “dislocated.” I got custom nightguard and it’s never been a problem since. Try that first!
@kaileemckenzie2 ай бұрын
I should try that! I'm also suspicious I have a ganglion cyst in my jaw :( I deal with them in some of my other joints and I realized a few days ago I have a lump

Hey girl! I have horrible TMJ and have been treating it with Botox every 3-6 months and have a night guard. Botox for TMJ is considered therapeutic and will virtually not affect wrinkles. I get 50 units in each masseters (muscles in your cheek you use to chew) and usually 15-20 units in each temporalis muscles (muscles around your temples). Botox that is used cosmetically (what people commonly think of botox as) and is injected in areas where wrinkles appear (corners of eyes, forehead, corners of the mouth). Therapeutic botox for TMJ is not injected here. Before I got botox and the night guard I had horrible tension headaches and neck pain. I've been doing therapeutic botox for like 3 years and haven't had tension headaches/neck pain since :). It's def an investment but for me it's worth it! Im from MN so don't have recommendations for NYC.

Can you link to the video talking about rushing? I don’t really get it, but it sounds helpful! Like isn’t the point that the things you have to rush are the most imminent deadlines? And so you have to do them first? Like how can you avoid doing those tasks?
@kaileemckenzie2 ай бұрын
I will find it for you!! When I first heard her say it I pushed back so much with this same idea. It’s definitely not doable all the time, but thinking more in day to day tasks that have less time constraints helped me a lot. for example - before I may try to pack in a workout class, laundry, shower, dog walk pre dinner/drinks with a friend (at a set time) after work. I MAY be able to do all of this rushing - but probably kinda poorly or I’ll be late and/or not complete everything…so it’s really about managing your expectations and only allowing yourself to do tasks in a regulated way when you can. When I start rushing for a deadline, I find I can’t turn it off with other tasks. I let it consume the rest of my day, and maybe I feel really productive and accomplished, but then I’m back in burnout/procrastination mode for a couple days after, and constantly losing things and just overall not being present. I think before I thought I had to be in “rush” mode to activate my brain to accomplish my to do list and I feel like trying to rush less has helped me find more balance! does that make sense? sorry for the long ramble haha

What's your pb&jelly oatmeal recipe? You look super cute with the new haircut! :)
@kaileemckenzie2 ай бұрын
Thank you!! 🖤 Recipe - 1. Boil 1 cup oat milk with a pinch of salt (or water but I prefer milk when I can) 2. Once simmering add 1/2 cup of rolled oats 3. When oats are cooked, remove heat and add 2 tablespoons of peanut butter in the pot and stir until well combined 4. Plate with a spoon of jam on top! I like bonne maman :) Sometimes I also add hemp seeds for crunch and protein! When I have time I like to stew frozen berries or other fruit in a bit of maple syrup on the stove to have on top instead of jam!

Have done masseter botox, and the results were great for my TMJ and for slimming my lower face. I had way larger masseter muscles though than I believe you do, so maybe the physical change won't be as dramatic for you. The one pitfall I did encounter and have to adjust for was that too much gave me a slight bit of a "jowl-y" look - like my masseters had stretched the skin out and when I lost that mass, the skin didn't fully stretch back (despite me being in my 20s), and it looked slightly loose/heavy in that zone. Getting smaller amounts injected fixed that and jaw pain was still not an issue!

Hi! Night guards are commonly recommended for TMJ but unfortunately did not help me. I chewed through all of them 🥲 physical therapy kept the pain under control but eventually I think my jaw muscles just got stronger and I stopped feeling it! It was many months of agony but eventually it did subside! ❤
@kaileemckenzie2 ай бұрын
omg! that’s interesting you stopped feeling it. glad your pain is gone 🤍
@urgirlri2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if you have a mouth guard to sleep with at night but you definitely should! It's really important for dental and jaw health as we get older! That can be something you try before you decide to get Botox if you're on the fence. You should go to your dentist and get one if you don’t already have one :)
@kaileemckenzie2 ай бұрын
I don’t have one but that seems to be the general consensus! Thank you for sharing 🤍
