For a sequel that was very fast tracked just a year after Welcome To The Jungle came out and was filmed in the same year that the sequel came out, The Next Level turned out to be way better than I expected

One thing I appreciate the most about this movie is how Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart were playing against type for most of the movie as Danny DeVito and Danny Glover were controlling their characters. We all know what they're capable at when they're just being themselves in movies so to see them doing an impression of DeVito and Glover for most of the movie and pulled it off very well is quite refreshing and pretty impressive for their standards

It's a 5th movie. Zathura: A space adventure is apart of the jumanji franchise. It might not be a direct sequel, but it is in fact in the same "universe"

Plus it was the first of the movies to bring the characters "into" the game. The practical effects and set designs are beyond amazing. The music was great tooooooo

I love that a grandpa turned into the Rock. Whenever Bravestone does something cool in this, like driving the buggy, climbing the bridge, I try to picture Grandpa Eddie doing that. I'm glad he gets to call out Jumanji and end the game, but for me, it's unfortunate that they switched characters and he got Awkwafina. No offense, but he really deserves those muscles and pack in this game

The thing is, Jumanji knows who it is bringing in. From the very first film, it targets people who are broken in some way. “A game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind.” That’s why this film did not focus as much on Martha, Fridge or Bethany. Bethany is so content with her life that the game did not even take her at first. Martha’s discontent is the friction between her and Spencer but she is otherwise settled. Fridge…Fridge still has unresolved arc from Welcome to the Jungle, which is why the game keeps putting him in characters that do not involve physical prowess. Fridge needs to learn that he has other skills than his athleticism. Grandpa Eddie, Milo and Spencer were the ones who needed the most Jumanji therapy in this one. I feel that the next installment will focus more on Fridge, for the first time in his own body facing this kind of stuff and realizing that he has more to offer than just his strength.

Thats something that Ive noticed and felt weird about. Fridge has never learnt his lesson. No really. Yes he started being a bit nicer to Spencer but he never really confronted the fact that he was a jackass and a bully for years and how is still almost solely obsessed with the physical. Like there was no Bethany moment of wanting to go and explore the world for him. He just continues to play football. I really thought after the first film hed get really into zoology or something.

They did confirm that’s gonna happen. Imagine if the avatars reveal that they retain all of the players’ memories. With that, I can imagine Ruby slapping Fridge for touching her boobs when he was in her body. And imagine Seaplane meeting Alex’s kids. Dwayne Johnson did say that Jurgen was an avatar and we would find out who his player is in the next film.

I've never seen Zathura, but just checked and saw that it's on Netflix. I think you two should totally review that one. You're such a great duo. I am going to miss listening to you guys doing the Jumanji drums though. My favorite film in the franchise is probably Welcome to the Jungle, but I love all the movies. Also, the delay for the sequel has been due to COVID, Jake Kasdan and The Rock working on Red One, and other scheduling I believe.
