Yeah agreed. But the main reason they did this is the number of people who held out on buying civ6 until after the 2 big dlc released. This is a better economic plan for the consumer but much worse for the company they're trying to convince people to buy the game instead of waiting to get the game +dlcs together in 1 bundle

I hate to break it to you but new mechanics have opened the door for FAR more dlc. They have made this game more expensive. And they are going to need to show actual content if they expect a single person to buy it on console after leaving the game 100% broken for a good 8 years for console players.

Already for a year or longer even i am played out on civ 6. Over 1000h i feel i got my moneys worth though 😅. Civ 7 feels fresh and has some very cool features i love to try out. The map is also gorgeous.

Combat is one of the features that I am most excited about. I really am liking the changes that they seem to have made. The one thing I’m still waiting for is to see how the AI will use air units.

The massive tanks just look stupid. I prefer the Civ 5 style of showing more than 1 tank etc. Plus that clip. Why does the attacking plane look so small compared to the tanks its attacking?

@@JohnSmith-ik8nt I know. I have recently been trying to get back into Civ 6. But, I just end up quitting every time. I cannot stand the stupid cartoon graphics, and I detest the way they did the fog of war. Plus they just made it way too complicated. I fear that Civ 7 looks like more of the same. Oh well, I guess its back to Civ 5 yet again.

Great question! The early build I played did not have that option. I’d be a little disappointed if we didn’t have that option in the full game (even if it has to be a perk or whatever)

@@JumboPixel no, you cant this is intentional, as this allows commanders to be ambushed, and deploying troops in formation should pose some risk and should be done inside safe territory if you want to be safe it is a good risk-reward-vulnerability mechanic, that is intentional

What I hope happens in the future of Civ is an amalgamation of assassin‘s creed and Battlefield I want to be able to do spy missions and large scale battles that would make this game perfect. I absolutely hate how units are one full team color like in Halo Wars. It makes the game look goofy and cartoony. You'd think they would have listened about the awful cartoony aesthetic from Civ 6 but I guess not.

It's sad that with these new concepts, starting from V, we lost the grandiose setup we had. Before, it really felt like we lead a nation on a planet. Now, it feels like we are leading a part of a nation, on a terrain of the size of Belgium or Singapore, at best.

@stefannikolic4401 Yo, you gonna check out stellaris then. I know it's space and all but it's the closest to civ. Don't bother with that other game call Millennia which was published by pdx but developed by someone else. Stellaris really has the empire building feel. For example, the space UN in that game is much more dynamic than the gamey civ 6 world congress and much closer to civ 5 world congress albeit much deeper. You can take over the space UN and declare yourself the senate like Palpatine if you want to. There are story elements for role play purposes too. And not to mentioned much more impactful modding scene with many overhauls if you want. The only downside is that since the game is still updating, the mods don't have a stable code base to work with and many mods are outdated and broken. And also stellaris is the easiest to get into according to consensus.

There is so much I dislike about Civ 7 and was struck, in this video, that there is just one promotion tree for the commander so that all their troops share this one ability focus, whereas in all previous Civs the unit was promoted. Civ 6 was the best because of its complex promotion tree, with at each stage, each unit having at least two options. This meant, for example, that you could have two pikemen adjacent to each other, the one promoted against militia and the other against horses. Also, if you've ever played Diplomacy, you'd know that the Russians always have to be prepared to fight on two fronts. Do they get two army commanders where all other Civs get just 1? It is no good having their second era commander also an army commander as the Russians have had two fleets since the beginning of the 19th Century - Northern Europe and Black Sea (with a much smaller focus on the far east). How does the UK colonize Africa and the Indian subcontinent at the same time - where are its army and fleet commanders? How would Rome have fought its civil wars if there was only one commander? Incidentally, there are far more than three domains of combat. In a physical sense, space is already a fourth domain, and I am increasingly of the view that drone warfare is different from air war (as in the difference between what's going on in the Ukraine right now - drone war - and in Israel/Iran - air war), while information war, financial/economic war and espionage war are key non-tactile domains - arguably the UK won WW2 thanks to its espionage warfare, which opened the books re the management of German armies, logistics and battles, and they won the information war in WW1 similarly with all their stories demonizing the "Bosch," turning it, essentially, into a race and culture war. Oh, and that's another thing - Civ has always ignored logistics/supply. Not good. In reality, supply is everything - and in modern warfare it is a complex chain involving production, transportation, fuel etc. The strategic games I used to play (mainly WW2) factored in far more of these aspects than Civ has ever managed, which is why, for me, Civ has always been mainly "build an empire to last the test of time" rather than "to fight its way to the end of time." It is about development.

I think that towns look too big compared to overall teritory. I think they should increase size of teritory compared to cities. Tanks look too big. I dont like this instant reinforcement, i can see it like very anoying thing in future. They should put people in map not just in cities but also on working tiles in my opinion to make game look more alive.I am not too optimistic about this game as much as i love civ games, playing them since Civ 4.

Idk.. one step forward, 3 steps back imo. A lot of nice changes, but a lot of arcadey unbalanced stupid stuff too... like reinforcements reinforcing with ease and quickly, and other stupid nonsense. I'm sure a lot of simple minded folk will love it, but that's just more strategy out of the window, to make room for low IQ simple mobile game, and its looking and feeling more and more like a mobile game the more I see. Research tree hasn't been expanded on since ever. Units having different animations, and looks, etc.. literally nobody cares. That's such a minor detail that in a game like this doesn't matter, yet there goes a ton of wasted development money, and time to make those extra versions for zero gain that could of gone towards things to actually expand upon the game in ways it hasn't in 30 years.
