Zhou is my favorite early culture, stability and cience sets you up greatly for an early war and the special unit is super strong.. furtherrmore, the +2 stability, plus the +2 stability from halicarnassus almost halves the stability penalty in your districts

I still find Egyptians building industry early then choosing Greeks for that collective mind to be the best science game. Insane when you get +400 science in the classical era lol. Plus the chariots + Frontline Greek hoplites really make your defenses insane for the strat. Thanks for all your videos!

Babylon also has the opportunity to research standing army early, and therefore be able to see their access to iron before moving out of the ancient era. This can make a difference when picking their next culture due to emblematic unit resource requirements.

Great tips! Btw, I personally think Storyteller is far superior legacy than the other two options. Because all my population, even in my unattached outposts is being very helpful to me. Industries are entirely wasted in unattached outposts. More food will only grow the population of unattached outposts, but I don't see serious benefit to it, except that when that outpost will be connected to a city it will only have more starting population. Furthermore, the additional science early game I think makes a big difference in researching some very important technologies fast.

Just beat an Endless Humankind difficulty game against 4 AI opponents on turn 305 in the Industrial Era, with the French, by completing the tech tree. Babylonians, Celts, Teutons, Haudenosaunee, French. The Teuton's maker's quarter provides a lot of industry for the French to use with Scientific Minds.

I find assigning pops to science is a good way to catch up on science as a nonscience culture in the first two eras, however I'm not sure about the opportunity costs compared to traders (since money can buy me luxuries and constructibles, maybe some even give science) food and industry from terrain and districts completely eclipse those from pops imo, so i usually dont work pops on them unless i need to pump up units and pop growth for war, or pump out some new key districts/infra ASAP
@barrakliberal85393 жыл бұрын
2 science per each researched tech doesn't scale well, with less than 100 total techs. A decreasingly strong legacy benefit.
@L425-g1f3 жыл бұрын
yeah, their legacy is trash, but if you manage to build between 7 and 9 of their special building, and afterwise combine the city that have all of them, you can get monstruous science workers (something like +20science +9 food per worker in the late game, pretty insane)
@zaarm123452 жыл бұрын

Micromanage your population to buff research early if youre not a science culture. You can change them to production as well. Also, yes choose the +1 science per pop legacy trait. Itll help a lot to help you keep up in science for a while

I noticed that you build farmers and makers quarter right above rivers. It might be my limited experience in the game, but isn't this a huge mistake? I always try to place city centres on rivers and then build makers quarter on one side and farmer quarters on the other side of rivers. Because thanks to certain buildings, you get huge amounts of production AND food. But placing districts on rivers, mean that you limit the yields to just one type and lose the extra yields from the other.
@Iamaplatypus423 жыл бұрын
And then pick Khmer and build on those rivers!

Yes Build outposts and hamlets on rivers exploiting as much river tiles as possible. Farmers- and Makers- Quarters are prefered adjaicent to rivers, but can be build on rivers if you are not planning on exploiting both food and produktion on that specifik river tile.

That's how my Babylon game went as well, never a problem with Science and I never took a scientific culture again until the French in the Industrial (second to last) era. +1 food per scientist is a very strong bonus on your first maybe 4 (if you get philosophy and the civic that gives 1 city cap... you can push it to 5 before you go up as well!) cities. Plus you get too see if you get Iron early Babylon is a STRONG start. their EU is very good for defense as well!

It's interesting that most of the time pops working on food is a bad deal - you grow faster but then need more food to maintain your population - it doesn't give much of a net gain if any in the end to have a worker on food

The strongest point of Babylon is that it is the only culture that can rush swordmen in ancient area. You will crush all enemies with swordmen 29 combat strength+organized warfare especially in multiplayer games. They will just be all dead if they don't pick Mycenaeans or have strong defensible city placement.

@NotMeButAnother3 жыл бұрын
The game does show you the best position at the moment of placing the district. However, it doesn't take into account future upgrades, such as the infrastructure that gives additional adjacency bonuses. As such, you do have to think about whether the suggested placement makes sense for longer than a few rounds and possibly plan out district clusters.

Kinda disagree with you in 12:28. I think Zhou’s aesthete fame stars are better than Babylon’s tech stars simply because even if you have a ton of science, your techs are at least going to be unlocked at a rate of 1 tech per turn. Most tech milestones are 5-6 techs which means that’s at BEST 5-6 turns, aesthete, has no turn cap and you can marginally reach 3 star aesthete goals faster in my opinion. Especially when you build holy sites and stack influence and not to mention the aesthete faction ability. Zhou’s aesthete focus allows you to reach the next era and gather more fame quicker where babylon would have a slower time reaching three stars.

playing on endless and humankind, had 3 military A.I on the map. i play slow for fame, i always research all tech on my era so science is not my things i keep spamming unit that mean my population is maxed, gold is stockpiled not a problem. what i need is production if playing slow, i even still on maya but A.I already on contemporary era.. we need more random event and crisis, the game is too boring and A.I is too fast to end the game. A.I can steamroll everyone with their cheating power. i dont know about rushing game.. i dont like rushing things.
@L425-g1f3 жыл бұрын
well, if you want to play on humankind you can't just "play slow for fame", don't forget that each new era is a huge improvment in itself that push you forward. If you want to take it slow and not rush things just don't play on humankind, it's not a problem to play on lower difficulties if it's mach your playstyle better. (Spamming units might also reduce your overall production and gold)

@@L425-g1f its feels different with their 2 other games.. where i can play on my own pace. this game era for me still not balanced. is there a way to multiply era? like 40 district for 3 star to 80 district? and multiply research too for balancing it. then i can enjoy the game more because A.I "ALWAYS" rushing era
@L425-g1f3 жыл бұрын
@@ryaeon9793 The thing is there is a balance between fame and era progression, if you are sure to be "in time" and to be able to reach the latest era, than farming a bit of fame or construction a few more special district is good. But the A.I is coded to rush era most of the time (the A.I didn't always rush era in some of my playthrough), because it want to get the bonus faster. I think that slower speeds do ask for more in general, but you already play in slow speed apparently. You can either reduce the difficulty, the A.I will go slower (and sometimes not rush), but if you still farm fame you will have more fame than them. The game isn't made for you to farm all era, farming is more of a way to get some extra fame if you're ahead, you're supposed to try to progress fast, and even more if you are in stronger difficulties.
@ryaeon97933 жыл бұрын
@@L425-g1f what i meant is that i want more longer pacing than endless, 2 times more longer. its not because i want farm era star. i want to enjoy the" game" longer even when the A.I rushing the era. how many turn did you got everygame on endless? i bet you have average there for me its too fast on endless. i played their other game too btw.. i feel content with their other game pacing.. but not this game. maybe im bias playing stellaris and civ, but i dont know why i dont have problem with their other endless game.

@@ryaeon9793 Sorry, i didn't understand you. You can wait for mods, i'm pretty sure that some people will eventually add a slower game speed than endless when they put the modding tolls out. I prefer normal/slow speed and feel at ease in them, and i personnally find endless too slow already, even though it's true that it's faster paced than classical civ games or paradox games, I don't dislike it. I hope modding tolls with be out soon, it really bring a whole new dimention to the game and help everyone tweek their experience toward somethings they enjoy more.
