If you already have an outpost in a territory, and you plan to use a settler to found a territory. Found it in a different location, and the outpost gets upgraded to a hamlet right away. That's a lot of initial exploitation if you plan it correctly.
@att73643 жыл бұрын
11:05 you can just create a new city with the settler and use it for nuke test, then later liberate it. If you do all 3 nuke test you will recieve 300 fame. Alternative you can attach a archipelago outpost and de-attach it after the tests are done

Great tips, my friend. Here is another. In the Neolithic era, I have been selectively picking which of my scouts would pick up the goodies. If done efficiently, you can pop out scouts quicker and go into the classical era without having a lot of scouts that have partial food. For example, when you have 15/20 food, then eat some nuts or berries, you get a new scout and have surplus food. Then you see a goodie hut appear nearby. Which of your two scouts do you send out to pick it up? Upon splitting a party, only one of the scouts will carry that surplus food. That particular scout should pick up the next goodie hut.
@derekrocco43443 жыл бұрын
You can also combine two tribes which each have 10 food, for example, to instantly get a third. It's less than optimal on most turns, but sometimes your scouts don't see anything and moving them together and then splitting off again is the best move. Careful, though, because any food rewards are split between nearby tribes. This also applies to Huns and Mongols.

Awesome! One point, when you finishing discussing capturing vs converting cities, you said at the end we should capture before converting our outposts. Was that a mistake? Wouldn't converting first save influence? Anyway, great tips.

Yeah, I have been destroying and refounding my own cities upon reaching new eras. The problem is replacing population, but if you have a couple outposts nearby that you have given some food districts earlier on, when you attach them their population transfers to the city immediately. I then immediately de-tach them and they begin rebuilding their population for another city. I don't know if its the most efficient, but I do it primarily because I can't stand having an ancient era city center in the industrial era, and doing this resets it to whatever culture you're currently at. Territories are thankfully easier with just a detach/reattach to redo their admin-centers.
@pdraggy3 жыл бұрын
I'd decided I'm gonna try a similar tactic next game where I ignore infrastructure (other than defenses ofc... and probably influence) until I get settlers and than the same until planners replacing the city center with those shaving off a turn or two of industry. I don't know if this will be viable as you'll just have to replace pop but I'm glad you point this out as it's actually been done before lol. I'm still doin it though see how I like it xD

A question about settler cities: if you hadn't researched previous era tech that gives an infrastructure building (thus not having it in your previously built cites), is that infrastructure ALSO available through the settler?!? Tnx

I am in the contemporary era, and I am super lost. I have expanded a lot, obtaining territories by grievances, and now I find that I have more cities than allowed, so lots of penalties. If I merge them, stability and food fall to negative numbers and chaos erupts. If I create more outposts, I am also penalized. I can't seem to get the right balance between so many farmer and industry shells with -10 stabilization each, like -700 on just one land/city, and tons of peaceful shells, but no workers to calibrate.

It's absurd how little thought went into the initial balance patch. Like, industrial cultures are already powerful, but comparing, say, the Mughals to the Venetians: assuming a decent population, the Mughal district gives roughly 3 industry to every industrial district and hamlet (plus a bit of raw industry). The Venetian district gives 1 gold per merchant district. Even if the Venetian district were tripled, it'd *still* be worse because money is bad, but COME ON. What's with these low numbers for cultures which already have bad affinities and legacies?! I can't wait until the dev community can get a crack at mods.
@chakstandsup3 жыл бұрын
@@derekrocco4344 Undoubtedly, I've been able to reliably get sub 300 victories in all Humankind/Endless games just b-lining Egypt/Harrapans/Babylonians -> Maya -> Khmer -> Mughal -> French. Nothing even comes close in power level. I've had *fun* playing other cultures but they're just so weak comparatively. Money needs a rework, having influence over other nations needs to give you more power to mess with them. Militarist cultures seem fine for war and I think are balanced, I actually really enjoy the Norsemen in maps with a lot of ocean.
@derekrocco43443 жыл бұрын
@@chakstandsup The Norsemen are great when the new world exists behind too much ocean to traverse realistically and a science beeline for better transport ships isn't viable. I loved playing them in the open dev when the Joseon were OP as all hell. It just sucks that the Medieval era is full of tons of B-and-C tier stinkers and then the SS-tier Khmer with nothing in between. Nerfing Khmer into the ground would make the Norsemen so much more rewarding of a pick.

I’ve got a question for you Jumbo, what’s the best tile you’ve ever come across. Maximum I’ve ever seen is “7 food, 26 industry”. I don’t know what tile is okay to settle on
@funnyguy08083 жыл бұрын
Hey, not Jumbo, but my main take with good tiles to settle on are anything with food between 7-10, and industry between 6-9. You can settle with something that gives you as you said 7 food and 26 industry, mainly focusing on that settlement for production. You'll need to balance your settlements with each other, so if you have one that's mainly food, make sure you have a settlement that's mainly production.

How is your merge city cost so low? Around 8 mins it showed 20K or so. Mine are @ 100k with the -20% off lol
@MirecU3 жыл бұрын
Dunno... the abilities that focuses your cities to research are kind of pointless in the contemporary era because you can only research 1 tech per turn via normal research... so whats the point in having research higher than the cost of these techs.... But... I have found a way to research multiple techs per turn - you can research additional tech's by the osmosis effect - this way you can research 1 tech per turn (the normal way) and if you get this in several cities (I got around 4000 - 10000 research per city this way) you are researching 2-3 techs per turn. In addition it goes well with Japanese, because they lower the cost of techs... This way I have researched all the techs by turn 199 (on a normal speed) and won the game on the turn 200 (because the game does check the condition at the start of the turn). It was on the empire difficulty though... (and I have had some turns without research because I went with different type of cultures than research mid game and have researched all the techs for the specific eras) I have done all the space missions (satellites and the mission to mars), could not set the civics for nuclear weapons though because.... the obvious lack of influence :D
