I play for culture victories about 90% of the time, and I'd disagree with Uffizi being called the most important cultural wonder. Other than the extra Great Artist, you can get a similar effect from the Hermitage, which actually has a more flexible path to the theming bonus. The Sistine Chapel is way more impactful, since it increases the culture output of *all* of your cities by 25%, which is significant. Combine that in your capital with the localized 50% increases from the Hermitage and the Sydney Opera House and and it will be a cultural powerhouse.

I often find the micro-intensive domination victory mentally and physically taxing, so cultural and diplomatic victories are so my jam!

I learned that if you get legalism after researching (whatever tech lts you build ampatheater) and you already built a monument you can get a free ampatheater. So thats pretty useful.

If you look at your great works, you will notice they are from different eras, such as ancient or classical. When you put great works that are from the same era in your buildings, THAT'S when you get the bonus. So if you have 2 slots for 2 paintings in your buildings, make sure they are both from ancient, both from classical, both from modern etc. Even more culture!
@michaelturner50932 жыл бұрын
That's true for museums, but a lot of other cultural wonders (or wonders that happen to have multiple Great Works slots) need you to have Great Works from different eras for the themeing bonus.

Pro tip that I haven't heard anyone else mention before: as the Shoshone, rush faith, get either the pantheon that gives you +1 culture on every desert tile or the one that gives you +1 culture on every jungle tile, use your culture to get policies that'll get you more faith per turn, found a religion, rush settlers, build encampments everywhere to get even more culture per turn, get "Defender of the Faith", which stacks with your bonus defense in your own territory (and, since your Shoshone, everywhere is your territory). You'll be an uninvadable culture machine.

It is nice to see new Civ 5 content. Thanks. I would like to propose some additions to your suggestions: 1. The concept of religion (which generates direct culture through buildings (Cathedrals, Pagodas, Mosques and Monasteries) and indirect culture through faith, with which you can purchase Great People in the late game). It also gives you other benefits during the game, like gold or science dependent on the beliefs you choose. 2. Going down the Piety tree IS a viable option for culture victory. I know that the general discussion about Piety circles around "how bad it is", but especially the Piety finisher and the possibility of a good reformation belief will greatly enhance both your culture and your tourism. I fully agree that Tradition is the easiest way and Piety requires good production capability in your empire. However, it is a fun and demanding alternative way of deepening your understanding of the game while also more or less guarantee you a religion (also on Deity) even with very moderate faith generating land. 3. The concept of concert tours as a means to finish off the game. You simply want to use some of your Great Musicians for this. 4. I would put the Louvre and Globe Theatre right up there with Sistine and Uffizi as the most central wonders for a culture victory. It is nice to get all four of them but a comfortable win on Deity usually includes 1-3 of those four wonders + a honorary mention for Eiffel. 5. Stressing the importance of the national visitor center, airports and the Internet as means of generating tourism multipliers. 6. The importance of sending trade routes to culturally able AIs and sending spies as diplomats to AI capitals, both for the tourism multipliers.

Hey, Nizef. I checked out your channel after reading this comment. Since comments are disabled on your videos, I didn't know how else to contact you. Are you going to upgrade to a better microphone at some point? I took interest in your content, and was going to subscribe. But it's extremely difficult to understand you much of the time due to volume and sound quality. I apologize if this feedback is unwanted. I understand that may be the case since comments are turned off. But I have to think you upload your content publicly either for viewers to enjoy, or for the purpose of building your channel (or both). As a viewer who took interest in your content, I thought maybe this feedback would be helpful.

@@p5eudo883 Hi. Thanks for taking interest in my content. I am aware of the low quality sound but it seems it has nothing to do with the microphone. I suspect it has something to do with the computer itself. But I understand that it is frustrating to follow and I apologize for the bad sound quality.

I had underestimated the depth of this game. Stellaris seemed a little more "in your face" with these sorts of intricacies. I had assumed Civ was just simpler. I'm looking forward to putting this knowledge to use.

Spreading your Religion like a wildfire -- at least in my experience -- greatly speeds up Culture Victory. Mid game you start to get "free" Cathedrals for each city you control, each with a slot for a great work. My Science also seems to shoot up, and so I find I could go for Military victory easily, but I hold out for the Culture as a more elegant win. (and allied with as many City States as possible)

One fun way to generate culture is to turn on Raging barbarians and looking for a ruin that gives you culture and choosing Honor tree opener and then farming barbarians like mad, never clear the camps but keep a few ranged units in range of them.

@@JumboPixel you mentioned in this video that you might do a separate video on it and that sounds really interesting😊 So I guess broader, general strategies on how to get the most out of faith for culture and perhaps vice versa. The thing about Culture Victory that annoys me are the runaways - at least one of the AI's manages to cheat hard and pull a gazillion culture points out of their backside, and the only way to blunt this advantage is to conquer their larger cities... which, by this point in the game is nearly impossible.

Great video, but many things you said in this video sounded a little off. 1) You focus on the "culture" a lot. In truth, you don't need a lot of culture for a "cultural victory" (CV). You need "tourism". Yes, you need culture, science, gold etc. But the main thing is tourism, not culture. I'd actually say, science is more important than culture for CV. 2) Archeological sites appear only in tiles, where a barbarian camp was destroyed. The culture output depends on what era that camp was destroyed in. 3) Going for tall civ and Tradition is also debatable. You only need 1-2 tall cities for CV, 1 to generate great people and 2 to build the wonders. The more cities you have, the more slots you have for your great works. The tourism doesn't suffer from the number of cities. The best strategy is to rush Archeology and steal artifacts from your neighbors. You get more tourism and your opponents get less culture. 4) Faith. You need a lot of faith to buy either musicians to finish off 1 running-away civ, or any other great people.
