Jump from Logitech G29 to Fanatec GT DD Pro with the Next Level Racing GT Lite

I went from a G29 to a DD Pro, it was obviously better, but I didn't think it was life changing. After a couple of months I tried the G29 again (setting it up for my son who has shown an interest) ...jeez, that's when you realise how much better the DD Pro is, I couldn't feel anything near the same detail, was noticeably harder to catch oversteer etc.

indeed, it's when you go back that you realize how much you are missing, because it's instantaneous... when you upgrade, you get loads of new information while you are trying to learn it and analyzing the differences while you go... when you downgrade, you miss what you had in just a few seconds driving.

You really need to 8nm boost kit though. They limited the 5nm to much. You can feel it has so much more to give. The crazy part the 3nm boost feels like it's more then the first 5nm so it feels more like 10nm instead of another 3 lol. So yeah get the boost kit snd thank me later!

Hello, I am glad you are enjoying DD, I recently sold my T300 and waiting on my first DD to arrive. I bought Asetek La Prima 12nm, but in the future it will be able to be upgraded to 18nm with motherboard and bigger wattage psu. Also got the Fanatec V2 pedals for 200 instead of 300.for BF... I will be having a carpenter make me a solid wooden rig, which I will sand, paint and add some stickers. I have some left over wood and will get a seat from the scrap merchents. Nice cheap solid rig

I did pretty much the same, only from the G923 to the DD Pro. I only had the Logitech for 2 days, but those gears felt horrendous in F1 2023 and I didn't like the TrueForce at all. The DD Pro is so much better! Only had one issue, a small "clunk" that appeared after some days. It appears to be the QR Lite, a bit of tape on the steeringwheel adapter solved it for now, allthough I just ordered the QR2 to be sure as I saw the QR Like snapped off with some people. For what it's worth: I got the NLR Wheel Stand Racer, I drilled 2 extra holes so I could mount it a bit more "on the plate". I really like the stand, it is very sturdy, however the locking mechanism for the pillar on which you mount the wheel could do with some extra stability. I might drill two more hole there so I can bolt it down, the metal clip that holds it in place was fine for the G923 but it's having some trouble with the DD Pro's power. I also mounted the pedals a bit further away with bolts underneath the foot plate. You got to make it your own a little but all in all great value for money. Btw. if you get the DD Pro with the boost kit included you get a 50 euro discount (the original 5nm power adapter is left out).

If u r upgrading to fanatec what till the new quick release system is standard so you don’t waste money upgrading later. Should be in the next year or 2 that the transition period will end

I went fom a G27 to the Moza R5 bundle, a real value for money in my book, on my NLR F1-GT lite rig. Like you Matt I have to turn the FFB down to around 80% depending on game (I usually play ACC, AMS2, rF2) and car. I perceive no flexing but I do get vibration which I think adds to thw immersion. The difference in feedback between the G27 and R5 is staggering. I didn't like the SRP lite pedals that came with the R5 bundle so upgraded to the SRP pedals

I'm so jealous you get to use the Moza, if Moza supported PlayStation I would have chosen them but I'm super happy with Fanatec, good call on getting the better pedals 👍🏻

I'm not sure, the Fanatec GT DD Pro with the Mclaren GT3 wheel might work but I'm not 100% sure as I don't have a PC/Xbox

Just wait to purchase the fanatec for another year or 2 when the new quick release system is standard. If you buy now you’ll have to pay extra for the new system and his leaps ahead of the current system. Completely eliminates all flex in the wheel stem that the old system has

I, too, went from a G29 to a DD Pro, and yes, I've got mine on a GT Lite, lol. There is minimal movement with a little bracing (using the straps used in shipment, as per NLR's website, is a must). I am very, very happy. I;ve actually bought a Logitech G-Pro wheel to fit on a rig at my partner's house. I think it is a slightly better wheel, mainly because of Trueforce, but the DD Pro has GT7-specific buttons on the wheel which make driving with VR2 a much better experience. Good combo, dude!

I would recommend the 8Nm if you have the budget. It's great at 5Nm but the wheelbase really comes to life at its real intended power limit.

I got the 8nm, and LC brake pedal 😊 EDIT: I just took delivery of the Logi G Pro. Trueforce IS as good as they say. Horses for courses, but as the owner of both, I would say the Logi is superior, hands down.

i did the same Matt but the fanatec only lived for a week contacted fanatec swapped emails for 3 weeks got nowhere so demanded a refund hope you dont have any trouble with it cos its a nightmare getting anything out of them Good luck

I use a fgt lite with a moza r9 and it works pretty well together to be honest yes there is a Lil flex but nothing you really notice to much while playing

I took my daughter and it was amazing 🤟🏻, the DD Pro is a great piece of kit but the Logitech Pro is also great it's just that it's twice the price so the Fanatec GT DD Pro was a no brainer. The only pro I see on the Logitech is that it’s compatible with both PS and PC, but the ecosystem is quite poor… If I ever make up my mind I’ll let you know!

Best thing you can do is wait for fanatecs new quick release system to be standard so you don’t waste money upgrading. Transition period is expected to last 1-2 years

I am debating a jump from CSW v2.5 to that new DD+ it probably wont be as much of an improvement as from logitech but uhhh. Just be careful it's how it starts for me it was playseat challenge seat, then NLR Wheelstand DD, and now NLR F-GT Elite.... maybe i am just ocd about any kind of flex..

Hello Matt, I really appreciate your video. I'm 75 years old and have a G29. I find the 2nm powerful enough and wonder how much more detail I would get with a 5nm Fanatec DD or Moza 5.5nm? My friend has a Fanatec 6nm Elite and it was not a pleasant driving experience for me as it felt like I was fighting the car rather than driving it. I'm looking for more detail when the car starts to slip around turns, NOT more power. Is it possible to experience more detail without being overwhelmed with more power? I'm waiting for your next video on the 8nm upgrade to hear your comments on DETAIL felt, not the power. I know 8nm will be more power, but will it have more detail?????? THANK YOU

Hi thanks for the message, I've done a video on the 8nm, so you can see that one but short answer is that the 8nm does give more detail over the 5nm and you can turn the force down to suit you. Hope this helps.

After shopping Fanatec and seeing all the custom pieces I need to build something decent. I think I can save a few hundred bucks and go with Logitech Pro series. I would go with other brands but I need console support. Gran Turismo is still my main game because of the quick online race meets.

I bought it 2 days ago and hopefully will arrive this week. My old Logitech G Force PS3 was working with my PS4 using the Brooks USB. But the Wheel is glitchy on the PS5 which I just won! 4 laps into Tokyo and it went haywire. So, that gave me the excuse to get DD Pro, finally. Hope my lap times are better? How are your lap times since the switch?

Hi Matt, how the hell did you screw the DD Pro to the metal plate directly? My DD Pro has its own plastic mounting system and won’t fit to the Next level GT Racer cockpit I just bought :(

Hi, I think the Plastic mount is for desk mounting, you can remove that and you should have got some T nuts that slide in at the bottom of the Base and you screw the metal plate into the T nuts.

No they should have come with the Base, if you don't have them I'd contact Fanatec and tell them and they should send them out to you.

@@mattsellings I'll try my local hardware store first because it's gonna take a week or two before anything arrives from Fanatec (not to mention they will probably ask a lot for shipping a few screws) I've had this base for some time and itse package with what might have been in it is long gone. Well the only difference is the brake pedal the G29 is a lot harder to push due to the fact that it has a rubber block in it and the Fanatec brake pedal only has a piece of hard-ish foam so is easier to push but you can buy the load cell brake for the Fanatec if you want a harder brake.

I know what it was like for you. I went from owning a G25 for around 10 years to a 20nm OSW DD motor. Never looked back, never need to upgrade, except the cockpit which is now a simplabs P1😀

It's made me a bit quicker as I'm able to feel more like understeer and oversteer but if you can be quicker on a controller.

I so can't wait to get my DD Pro in a week or two! I've only had a cheap belt driven wheel long ago, so this will be my first direct drive experience. What PS5 games do you enjoy with it, other than GT7? I'm looking forward to trying World of Outlaws -- a fantastic dirt racing game, but I'm not sure if it has good wheel support. (Developed by iRacing team, so it should) .. Also, do any of the arcade style racers have good wheel support? I'll be using my DD Pro on PC 80% of the time, but I'm sure there's plenty to discover on my new PS5.

You should try Grid Legends it's great on the wheel you have to set it to compatible mode ( purple colour mode ) and make sure the controller is turned off as it only supports one on at a time also F1 is great with the wheel, your gonna the wheel when you get it

So I had the G29 for about 7 months so not long but as I really enjoyed using it but I was getting fed up of the noise it makes and i wanted more feedback from the wheel and then coming across the GT DD Pro and I was sold, this will be the one, no need to upgrade the base now. As for the rotation you might be able to adjust it on a pc but I never hooked it up to one as I only ever used it on my PS5, you can change the rotation in some games like F123 🙂

I think you upgrade to loadcell pedals in a short time because they are so much better. Another steering wheel is personaly but this wheel is Fanatecs mistake. It looks en feels cheap and they have better wheels than this one.

I have no idea why Sony/Polyhony design their official wheels to look so cheap - they did exactly the same with the Thrustmaster version perviously. There are far better rims in the Fanatec ecosystem for games other than Gran Turismo.

So I've ordered 3 separate orders from Fanatec GT DD Pro, the 8nm power supply and the Metal QR and only paid import charges 9n the GT DD Pro. I don't know why I didn't pay on the other two so that was a result

No detail at all, if you try out iracing you will notice a huge difference. F1 games are arcade, you should use it on Sim games like iracing. You will never go back.
