It's a great pickup, I bought it new from dealer and I owed 2 of them and my last was a 1997 SR5, V6 4WD with all factory options you could get back then. I sold my truck to a friend with over 200,000 miles plus and he drove it for another eight years. This engine never had any issues and didn't burn no oil. I did regular oil changes and filters, spark plugs, battery and maybe a headlight bulb, but other then that I Never had any major repairs, I have read online of people with frame rote, but I never had any of it. It's a awesome truck. Old school is the best.

My 95 T100 still runs like new. Over 600k miles. Original AC still works too. A local "Toyota truck guy" told me I'd never be able to find parts for my truck if anything ever did break down, because they can't be found in junk yards. They're all still running.

That's good to hear @eak185. Perhaps some businesses will start reproducing parts for these in the future. Thanks for posting!

Bought my 1995 T100 SR5 slightly used almost 30years ago. Still own it and it runs perfect. Everything is original. Replace gaskets, cam shaft oil plug, one set of front brake pads, shocks, rubber brake lines, some rubber grommets and vacuum hoses, and lots of TLC. During Covid hiatus I switched everything to LED. Easy, inexpensive and a great upgrade. I installed a Pioneer radio with all the modern USB, back up camera, satellite radio, etc. Beautifully styled truck. I would drive it anywhere tomorrow. It's also one heck of a work truck if needed. Cheap insurance and license fees. These are incredible vehicles.....

What exactly did you buy to upgrade the headlights to LED? How well do they work?
@curtgomes2 ай бұрын
@@drwisdom1 Actually on the T100 the new LEDs were a direct replacement, plug and play. I did slightly modify the round rubber weather seal to accommodate the new base of the LED bulbs. High and low beams good.. They are a 1000% improvement over the old halogen lights. Polish out the plastic lens and these things are great. Very easy upgrade....

I just happened upon this little gem of a video. That was an absolute beautiful T! Mine is a 1995 DX 4X4 with 750K on it. I purchased it in 1998 from the original owner. It had 40K miles on it, and I gave 10K for it. It’s worth more now than it was when I purchased it in 1998! They are little tanks! Indestructible!

IF I remember correctly, all of the T100s were made in Japan. And I also seem to remember that Tacomas are actually a mid size while T100s are actually considered Full size. Either way the T100s were built to strict standards and the quality shows. Beautiful specimen, almost a work of art.

Yes, Toyota's last truck built in Japan. I have a 2007 Tundra but I would trade it for a nice one like this.
@drwisdom12 ай бұрын
The 1st generation Tacomas were small trucks like the Toyota pickups that preceded it. While the T100 is a mid sized truck that sits pretty tall when equipped with 4WD. Whereas American pickups like the F-150, Silverado, and RAM are full sized trucks. When I park my T100 next to a full size pickup it is noticeably smaller. Toyota increased their truck size so the current Tacoma is mid-sized like the T100, the Tundra is full sized, and they quit selling small pickups in the United States.
@taifgold4298Ай бұрын
@@drwisdom1 And yet a small fuel efficient pickup with minimal bells and whistles would do incredibly well in the US market... So many people are looking for them.

I have a 97 T100 and it still drives great. I haven't had many mechanical problems. I don't drive it regularly so most issues come from underuse. Every time i take it on the road, people want to buy it from me. I love how it drives, do holding on to it. Kust the right size yo haul household items.

Make sure to take it out once a month and shift between RWD and 4WD so it doesn't stick.

My 21 year old son bought a 1998 t100 automatic with 118000😮 miles on it!! Beautiful green. It was only 10k from our local Subaru dealer. I saw it the night before he bought and told him he needed to be there before the dealership opened the next morning otherwise it would be gone. This is a unicorn 🦄, he has wanted a late 90s truck since he started driving. It had one owner and very well maintained, what a find..i still cant believe it. This is a dream truck for him😊

I still have my 1996 T-100 4wd I purchased new, I'm on my second Tundra now and would never consider selling the truck, it's so much fun to drive. Everywhere I go, people come up and ask about it, one guy wanted to trade me his 2022 Tacoma TRD for it, not a chance!
