I want to jump while I can. Because there will come a day when I cannot. And I don’t want to regret missing my opportunity to do it while I could.

This is why, at 57, I still ride the grocery carts through the parking lot. A few years back, I went through a health crisis that caused me to live like someone three decades older. Thankfully, despite some telling me to get used to my "new normal", I recovered the majority of my health and energy. I still thank God when I can walk, even run, upstairs without bolstering myself with a handrail, and when I can be in a hurry - a previously unrecognized privilege. I've also learned the gift of slowing down and savoring the moment. But as long as I'm able, I'll still continue to ride the grocery carts - and jump! 🥰

I was 25 ? 28 ? and my boss was much much older, but I used to run up the stairs where i worked and one day, we both ran up the stairs... he knew he had to jump while he still could.... he'd come over and argue with me too if he was bored....Ross the Boss

In my 50’s I literally jumped from a cliff into the river below. I was on a rafting trip and when the guide asked who was going to do it, I responded before my young nephew and other younger people in the raft. Now in my 60’s I’m doing some life jumping things like starting a new job, moving to a new city by myself, starting a business for the first time and planning to live in other countries! Keep jumping, keep living!

That’s why I decided at 46 to learn to play the clarinet. I have never learned to play an instrument and always thought I wasn’t musical. After 12 months I sat my first practical music exam and got a distinction. I’m so glad I decided to do this. I know I would have regretted this if I hadn’t ‘jumped’ 😊

So so happy to read this! Foster parents are so hard to find-good ones are even harder to find and where I live they are too few for all the babies and children who need them. Had literally logged on with the thought of suggesting to Joshua to see if there is a way make a course for people who have few things to also consider it an opportunity to start on a healthy lifestyle where ahead.

What an astonishing little soliloquy. I didn’t realize until you iterated this blurb that I too had a special moment when I was 78 years old and purchased a house on my own for the first time. I am now 82. Think of it. 78 years old, and with only social security backing me up. A wood-burning stove that is supplemented by an oil, furnace and a gas heater but I heat the whole cottage with the wood. A slate sink with no other amenities. Every appliance was broken but it’s a very strong little 100 year old craftsman house. Almost 5 years later and I’m still doing it with the cancer that the doctors don’t help me with but with friends and relatives and children and grandchildren who help me here and there and I did it. What an inspiration we all are and we should know it. Thank you for sharing your experience.

When you told this beautiful story I thought to myself that "Jump while you can" also might mean "Choosing the path you like". I would have never jumped in the same situation because I hate heights and I would be perfectly happy simply swimming and snorkeling. Since having been seriously ill at the age of 27 (leukemia), I only do things and make choices that I really want to, which also means I don't do things I don't really want to, like jumping from cliffs or boats:). I am 45 now and this "Only doing things I really want" has led me to a very happy and fullfilling life. Thank you for the video and wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas

Yes , l agree with you .... taking the challege of 'jump' to another level resonates as one gets older the "bucket list"syndrome becomes less and less of an issue. At 60 l think it is a bit foolish wanting to engage in extreme sports eg bungee jumping or such things in order to 'feel alive' ...unless of course you are fit and experienced as some are at that age. Jump challenges me to to come out of my shell and use opportunities to engage with people in daily life. To give them time, to listen to their stories and maybe to help them along their way a bit... that gives me more satisfaction and peace than say a jump off a high cliff into a rockpool. ..which enjoyed when l was 20...

I'm 25 and am now again jumping across all the puddles i can, i jump off the last step when going down the stars, I balance on sidewalk ledges and walk on top of those knee-high walls. I'm extatic every time I remember I *get to* do that. I spent all of 2019 with chronic knee and hip pain, it was so bad I couldn't stand up and walk for more than 30 minutes, let alone THINK about jumping. I've gotten so much better after a year of physical therapy and have never taken full mobility for granted since. Got another good refresher for that lesson when I injured my ankle and was in intense pain for over 5 months last year. I'm so grateful I GET TO jog across campus because I'm late, instead of taking the most careful, small, slooooow steps with crutches or my cane. It's impossible to put into words how much it sucks to not be able to do everyday things, need 6 times as much time and energy, and be in pain every day. Whenever i have a day where my knees feel tender or i feel very low energy, i remember how incredible it feels to be able to live "normal" life again, and it makes me pay attention to my body's cues and take rest / do some boring maintenance exercises. I'm so SO lucky to be back at 90% and I am trying to keep it here. And I try to take advantage of it in all the little ways, every day, that i never realized might one day not be possible anymore. It makes me so happy to just... hop off the last step. Just because I can. Pain free. Climb whatever i choose to climb. Run when I want to. I feel so damn lucky. You never appreciate being able to just do groceries by yourself, walk around the store, finish crossing the street long before the light turns, etc. until you suddenly can't.

Josh, you're so right when you say there are things we can't explain with words. I kept wondering if what was going through my mind was a cliche..."a second wind". No, it wasn't, it was the voice in the back of my head that kept reminding me of the clock that's ticking and it's not to hit the hour of a renewed, youthful energy. It was rather saying what you so eloquently, yet simply displayed in words: jump while you can. Do what you've always done, and yes, add whatever you can so that later you don't miss even the things you never did. Thank you sir, it's time to enjoy life, still.

“Jump while you can”, these are words of wisdom. I am 75, raised 4 children as a single working mother over a period of 50 years. I agree! Money was always tight (one income), and our parents lived half-way across the country from us. So most of our vacations were to visit them (and I'm thankful for the time with them). But we did do a few large vacations...to the Grand Canyon, to Washington, DC, and to Prince Edward Island. I always thought when we retired and had more disposable income, we might take a few more trips. But in 2018, my husband was diagnosed with a disease that is taking his muscles (Inclusion Body Myositis). So we are staying pretty close to home where our accessible aids are. I'm glad we "jumped" on those few trips when our kids were teenagers and we could all enjoy them together! And we can still jump at what we CAN do!

Sir, you should know the Lord used you this day and I thank Him & you for it I know you aren't looking for thanks but I am thankful ahead of time because I already know that your YT content will be up my alley even if I can't go full in on the minimalistic lifestyle I am confident that I will be able to glean from your tried and true organizational methods etc I am embarking on a Re-Selling business and know that it is going to touch many lives-I am believing in the 1 billion by 100 principal. Joshua, this was a fantastic video, and echoes something I talk with family members about (I'm the "senior member" of the bunch): IF NOT NOW, WHEN? WHEN are you going to take that trip? WHEN are you going to work on restoring your marriage? WHEN are you going to buy that 1970 Firebird you've been lusting after for 20 years (this assumes you otherwise are in good financial shape)? WHEN...are you going to start doing those things you've been waiting to do" "Let me think more about it..." WHEN? IF NOT NOW, WHEN? Jim in FL

Great video. My problem is sometimes I didn’t jump when I can and jumped when I shouldn’t have. It might be my sensation seeker personality or Go Big or Go Home mentality. Sadly I’m paying the price already had rotator cuff surgery with patch, scheduled for knee scope (if doesn’t fix then knee replacement), hand surgery after knee scope, hernia surgery, lower lumbar problem and compressed discs. Yes I’m enjoying retirement. No stress nor work games.

I’m 44 and there is a 30 ft jump on a rafting trip that we take every year. I still jump, “to keep young”. It takes a bit of convincing and to be fair I have PFD on but still, it’s my small step.
