Nicely explained and really enjoyed the edit. I love the secret sauce "behind the scenes" cut. I think it would be hilarious if you used a second persona for that, something vaguely like Dylan Johnson's backward hat Dylan. Very much looking forward to trying this out with this improved perspective on the move.

Awesome!! Thanks so much - and good call on the secret sauce persona! I did a few of those a while ago and it was super fun…definitely time to bring it back!

Here I am trying to practice this with my front wheel hovering in the air just above the obstacle... No wonder it seemed even harder than I thought it was. Now if the rain will stop for long enough, I'll be out there tomorrow making this work for me!

The little correction hops are the hardest for me. I get maybe one or two and fall over. The rest of it is no problem.

Especially when it gets super steep, that’s the hardest. I try to do these as fast as possible when I ride - the slower I go, the more energy it takes..

Hope you don't mind me coming in with a bit of critique here of your explanation. At @4:10 in the video, you talk about sinking into the bike and demo sinking straight down with a deep knee bend and your chin almost on your stem. But then if you look at what you actually do when doing the move, the motion is quite different. In the actual move, your knee bend is not nearly as deep and the move seems to be more initiated from a hip bend and moving your chin and shoulders more forward, not quite to your front axle, but quite far in front of your stem (like @5:13 and @6:20). I noticed the same thing looking at the trashzen video on static hops at kzbin.info/www/bejne/goawhGOhqZediMk where his leg bend is not deep, but the upper body action is significant and his shoulders are very far forward during the preload. When I look at my own recent practice session (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKLJqqylmbiLnJI) I see a deep knee bend and shoulders behind my bars. Of course part of that could be that I'm doing it on a smaller obstacle, so less steep. Anyway, curious if you think my analysis has merit or not.

The movement definitely changes with the height of the obstacle - the steeper your front wheel gets, the more you have to modify. I’ll scope out your video now and hit you up with some more input on Discord! 👊

Hi, whenever I practice this move, I feel like ripping off the rear derailer. It's really frustrating to fix the bent derailer after every ride. Thanks for the secret tip anyway!

Ah, I can see how that would be an issue. Maybe try tweaking it a little bit more straight on? It’ll be a bigger jump forward, but will help build up the movement.

go from the lefty up an obstacle, at least its cheaper to replace a disk rotor than a derailer. depends what your lead foot is though.

I have a dirt jumper single speed hardtail. Could I use it for this kind of practice? I don't see myself buying a special trials bike?

Absolutely! The bike I'm riding here has a similar geometry to a dirt jumper, just a slightly smaller gear

I always use a DJ bike for trials, bike is much longer/ slack on the front, and the bb Is lower, lock out the forks if you can. for me at least riding a heavier bike with BMX sprocket and axle adds to the weight makes you fitter , then when you change to hollow tech cranks and BB its very light!

Start with wheelies, that will help you find the balance point - or try to rock backwards after an Endo. Once you find the balance point, it becomes a lot more comfortable and easy!

on my pure trials, this is a bit fine despite failing a lot.... on a street trials, leaning forward is a bit hard
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed - way easier on a pure competition bike! Take so much more effort on the shorter street trials setup!
