David (Hayden Christensen) realizes what Roland (Samuel L. Jackson) wants the second it's too late.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Following up his blockbuster action hit Mr. and Mrs. Smith, director Doug Liman turns to an entirely new genre -- sci-fi -- for this tale of an underground world of teleporters. Based on the novel by Steven Gould, Jumper concerns David (Hayden Christensen), a young man who quite literally wills himself away from his grim family life by teleporting to another place with the power of his mind. Years later, David is using his powers to raid bank vaults, seduce girls in London, lunch on the pyramids, and surf in Fiji. But he soon discovers that he is not the only one bestowed with this unique gift, and all is not well in the world of jumpers. There are people out there, such as Roland (Samuel L. Jackson), who view jumpers as a threat to all humankind, and have made it their mission in life to eliminate them. After jumping back to Michigan to get reacquainted with his long lost love, Millie (Rachel Bilson), David makes the acquaintance of experienced jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell). Samuel said 'Really.' while Hayden couldn't help himself. He quickly grabbed his blue lightsaber and tossed the other to Samuel, saying: let's finish this! Apart from the basic elements of David being a Jumper and him trying to figure out his power while dodging evil, it’s a complete 180 from the movie. SLJ is a Caucasian man in the books and it’s the NSA or one of the lettered government agencies. Also, there’s more to it than just his power, but I don’t want to ruin it for you. I feel if the movie hadn’t bombed, they might have tried to do more but here we are. Never say never, some director could get interested and start it up again. 😎 if you enjoy Jumper, the next book is Reflex buddy.

I would have liked a series based on the plot from the rather interesting 4 book series that started it all. It's villains made sense, be it government spooks using him for his newfound abilities to terrorists - and weren't some strange medieval cult against Jumpers. And David here was the first Jumper, not some long line from ancient days. His family ending up with his ability made it really interesting and using the ability creatively, like going to space or using the ability to suck air into space and stopping spooks who captured Cent (his daughter). Meanwhile, out of all the fascinating stories that started it all, we get a movie and a TV series (Impulse), and not a one of them seems to have any bearing on the original stories whatsoever. Short of the ability to teleport and having same names as key characters. Give us a live action series based on the book material.

agreed that they need to make Jumper 2 but Roland having powers is stupid. He should return with more common explaination. Like he had location chip underneath his skin in case that Jumper teleport him somewhere from he can't escape and so that rest of the Paladins could pick him up.
