I am glad to see you doing things that I have done as a teenager with my horse…I don’t feel so crazy….My horse and I had the best relationship despite the early days when he tried to kill me. Matt is so positive and supportive of Jesse. They can conquer the world together….I am secretly giggling at the statement Matt made:” I can literally hear the chickens screaming. I wonder what is going on in there?”….someone probably laid an egg and is announcing her accomplishment to the other hens.

That is a really sweet bareback saddle! I bet it costs a small fortune. I am fascinated with the use of the neck rope ever since I first saw one used in the Shadowfax stunt work in the LotR movies. I think you did a pretty good job with it, surely more than I could ever aspire to.

That was very impressive. Well done. But you asked for some constructive criticism so I'm just going to offer a reminder because I know you already know this because I've seen videos of you show jumping. To quote my coach, to help a horse jump successfully, balance, rhythm and straightness are required. The balance was pretty much perfect. The straightness had room for improvement. Rhythm was pretty much nonexistent. Maybe rather than doing a super short, 4 beat canter up until the last 2 strides and then throwing him at the jump at the last second, try to achieve the active, forward rhythm in a circle and then maintain it up the the fence and then keep cantering, add a circle, regain or keep rhythm first, then head to your next fence. You can practice this really often with poles. You are an amazing rider and horse person and this was an extremely difficult exercise and I think you aced it. The suggestions above aren't meant to be negative, but rather, helpful. I know that with some work, you, as a team, will become even more amazing at this. Antares seems to enjoy it too!

Super leuke video! Echt heel knap hoe je Antares zo kan rondsturen. Maar als ik een tip mag geven: Ik had ook een paard dat de laatste twee passen voor de sprong zo 'explodeerde' en wat ik deed was ook zoveel mogelijk controle (en dus langzaam erop af) maar een lesgever gaf mij ooit de tip om juist in een wat hoger tempo op de sprong af te rijden, zodat je minder heftig zo'n explosie krijgt, omdat hij dan toch al wat meer tempo heeft. Bij mijn paard maakte dat echt verschil in ieder geval!
