I owned a couple myself, though I was bitten on my forearm and the initial bite was pretty painful, though the days that followed were the worst intensive itchiness. Especially at night, it was like a thousand mosquito bites on the same area, is best I could describe it. I wasn't expecting such a reaction from a jumping spider. It was a Breda jovialis.

Many years ago, I had a jumping spider who lived on my back porch. I believe she was a female, so I'll call her Jette. She was adorable! We kept our back porch light on, so Jette had a great variety of bugs to eat. She wandered around at will, and grew quite large. I loved having her...she controlled the bug population and did no harm to anyone except the bugs. Then one day, my now ex-husband (I'm a woman, despite my handle) went out the back door without looking and stepped on her. I literally cried out when he told me! It's been 20 years and I still remember her to this day.

***PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING*** I’ve had MANY comments on this video a little confused as to why I do these bite and sting tests and I think it’s because of how the public perceives jumping spiders. These videos are to document the full extent and relative pain of these bites and stings as well as showcase that these animals have no interest in doing either. Normally people don’t “care” that I subject wasps or ants to the sting tests as these are species which are wrongly hated in society. Jumping spiders on the other hand are mostly shown in a positive light, and so people empathize with them much easier! This of course is a good thing, but does not change the ethics or morality of these videos. The amount of stress exerted on these animals is minimal and they are released unharmed. This type of content has the potential to reach thousands more than my average videos would and I know from experience it has shifted many people’s perspective on some of these animals completely! I know these are cute animals, I know many people keep them as pets, I promise my intention is to dispel myths around these animals and showcase that these aren’t out to bite anyone. Very interesting to see the difference between jumping spider video comments and wasp sting comments. Remember these animals have limited nervous systems and aren’t impacted as heavily by short term stress as larger animals. Trust that I am a professional and I am not interested in harming or otherwise depleting the health of any organism for Jack’s World of Wildlife. Please check out our other jumping spider videos to get a clearer picture of my interest, fascination, and love for these animals. Thank you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5XPo3qtqaqehbc

These cute little spiders are what got me over my irrational fear of spiders. I went from hating spiders and being extremely fearful of them to finding them fascinating. I even have a tarantula. I still get a little spooked when I see a spider run across my blankets when I'm trying to sleep but I no longer kill it and stay up all night in fear. For people who are scared of spiders i recommend researching these guys and trying to find and watch them in the wild. Also remember that spiders aren't aggressive they're defensive. They aren't going to just attack you. You have to make the spider fear for it's life for it to bite you.

I got Brown Recluse Spiders coming in my house. I tend to kill them every moment my eyes catches them. Also got spider traps around the house to catch them. Sometimes I end up also catching jumping spiders and wolf spiders with those traps but that's not something I can avoid. If possible, I do use tweezers to release jumping spiders and wolf spiders if they're not too stuck in the glue. Jumping spiders for the flies and wolf spiders to hunt the recluse.

@@barronhelmutschnitzelnazi2188 they likely aren't recluse spiders. If they are though you don't have to worry much. They aren't likely to bite and if they do you'll be ok. Most so called recluse bites with the rotting wounds are not actually recluse bites. Most of those wounds are caused by bacteria that can be found under your finger nails. If you get bit by a recluse wash the area, put some antibiotic ointment on it and don't touch or scratch it. If you keep it clean you are very unlikely to have a flesh eating reaction. Those spiders have venom that has a necrotic effect but they don't normally produce enough of it to cause the wounds that you've likely seen pictures of or heard stories of. If you keep the wound clean the only thing you will see is some redness, some itchiness (don't scratch it), and some scabbing. I've been bitten by both the black widow and the recluse. Neither put me in the hospital although the widow bite symptoms were painful.

I used to have a "roommate" jumping spider that invited himself to my bedroom. I named him Mr. Mustachio (because it's pedipalps made it look like he had a mustache). I loved him alot and he hasn't ever tried to attack me at all, just chill on the corners of my room. I would even try to feed it bugs around the house when he couldn't find any. Sadly he died tho, he just climbed down my window onto the ac unit (which was next to my bed) and had his last moments there. I'd like to think that he wanted to spend his final moments next to me, but i kinda doubt it. I miss him tho, and ill never forget him

I have a pet jumping spider! She's even the same species just with a bit different coloring. Rory is cute and sweet. I feed her insects from around the house, and when winter comes I'll probably keep crickets again.

Woah! I found one really similar in my backyard. Biggest one I ever saw! Butt like a small grape and really colorful iridescent fangs. Cool video man

Bro years ago I was at my friend’s house during the summer playing basketball in the evening time, and when 9:30ish hit I started biking back home. I was pedaling fast and shaking aggressively on the bicycle to go faster. Halfway to my house I felt something tickle my knee. I ignored it at first but then a couple seconds later I felt it again. This time I stopped my bike to look and there was a Tarantula just chilling there. Out of panic I slapped him, but later on I kept questioning myself why didn’t it bite me after all that shaking from bicycling. That’s when I did research to discover they don’t bite so easily. I felt relieved after that day. Now most spiders don’t seem that scary. At the time I did freak out I was like 12 years old.

Pretty hard to get any jumping spider to bite you , none of them are medically significant, I suppose allergic reactions are possible though . They are actually sort of friendly.

As an owner. I am very happy you made this. I have cb ones that I'm not afraid to hold but the male wc bold I have I am afraid to hold but the fact that she didn't keep biting you after that made me feel better about the fact they're not going to bite for no reason. Thank you

I appreciate this demo. I came across one the those day on my stovetop and didn't know what to think. I'm not too threatened by them now. Shout out from AZ!!

I was at a park and had a jumping spider sit on the edge of my straw mat for like 5 minutes. It looked so cute that I took a picture of it. It was my friend indeed for 5 minutes. ✌️

This is the spider that my ex is most afraid of, because they're so fast. Apparently, when he was a kid, his father took a bite on the face by one of these, and his face got pretty badly swollen. (The same man has kept a pet black widow).

Wow! Tbh I don't think I've ever seen anyone in my life get bitten by a jumping spider? Major impressive. They really are one of the most docile creatures. Well towards humans.

Jumping spiders are my FAVORITE spiders! When I go to the dog park sometimes I’ll see some on the park benches and I’ll let them jump from hand to hand. They usually really like my shirt and pants tho! They’re such sweet babies 😭🥲

Jumping spiders are so adorable. When I find one in the house I take it outside. I found a tiny baby in the house the other day and it was so little it looked like a black speck on the wall but then it jumped. I managed to get it to go into a cup and take it outside. I enjoyed your video and the information on jumping spiders.

Damn that spider looks cool. The green fangs are amazing. I would probably be very scared if I saw on in real life though, even though I know they wont attack me or cause serious damage

Ha! Where I'm from these spiders hang around the Yucca and rock piles. If you make threatening movement it will bluff charge you. Very cute spider, sometimes they have Fluffy white pals that make it look like its wearing boxing gloves. Cool video! Cheers to you and yours ☆☆☆☆☆

I remember seeing one on a table outside of work. I let it crawl all over my hand and not once did it bite me lol. They are so docile and it's crazy how people think all spiders are dangerous when in fact they really aren't especially when you leave spiders alone

Dude I have picked up so many jumping spiders and they never bite me.....they're the most docile spiders I've ever encountered......I didn't think they could actually ugly bite because I've never seen anyone get bit by one before.....you did have to provoke her a lot before she did that too.....anyways she's super beautiful I hope she makes thousands more 😊 jumping spiders are my favorite spider. They eat the scary spiders.

Spoiler Alert: Not dangerous at all. All of my furry animals have died, but I’m not ready to make another big commitment. I still want a buddy, though. So, I’ve decided to adopt a jumping spider. This will hopefully ease my husband’s arachnophobia. 😉

I found a jumping spider yesterday. I named him Dave. I let him go after a few hours in captivity because although he would get food and water, he didn’t have anyone to take him out for air every few minutes when we were asleep. I wasn’t bitten once. He was a nice little fella

I find it funny how people think all jumping spiders are cute and nice, lol. As hint: Ant mimics and portia (as example) are also jumping spiders, people dont generaly find theme cute thou.. Also Thanks for doing this! You have no idea how many people tryed to make me belive jumping spiders cant bite humans... Now instead of arguing, I can send theme to watch this :)

I've been bit by a baby one before. I was washing a car and seen a baby jumping spider, I got it off the car and put it somewhere safely. It was very calm, but I found another one, and when I let it jump on my hand; it was jumping around on my hand like it was on a hot roof. It felt a warm feeling where it stopped, after putting it down where I placed the other one; I noticed it getting a tiny bit red where it bit. The spot never swelled up and the warm feeling went away in just about 20 minutes. My dad has been bit by an adult jumping spider, he didn't tell me anything about the experience, but he never had any long term issues. I usually don't like watching videos where people purposely get bit by things I know are dangerous, but I wanted to see this one just to see what the effects an adult one has.
