Maybe. The flag might slow you down too much to pull it off while actually holding it, but *maybe* you could do some crazy shit like dropping it in front and picking it up midjump so you have enough speed to make it. You could also pull the flag through the grav lift with the grappleshot if you really wanted (which can be used to do this trick without a special jump anyway) I mean it's still good in CTF if it's impossible to do with the flag itself tho.

You can also do a double jump with the repulsor if you look down mid air. A bigger jump is also possible if you use the repulsor with your jump.

Probably a mix of both. Considering Halo is an arena shooter in its core, this type of movement and spots were also found in previous Halos. I'm sure the devs were expecting the players to find these little tips and tricks to traverse around the map. As long as it's not game breaking like BXR was in H2, I bet the devs are happy to see these types of discoveries.

There's actually a *ton* of places where crouch jumping is useful. Hopping up to the spawn platforms on Bazaar is a good example because it's right at the limit of what your legs can clear.

What does crouch jumping do

It does exactly what it would do IRL, you tuck your legs in. That way they don't get caught on stuff and you can clear higher ledges without climbing. You also bring your head down slightly which is why it's important for that last jump.
