I have been trading for two years, and trading futures for a year, and found this video on volume profiles EXTREMELY helpful. I already had session volume profiles on one of my charts (from training I had previously received), but no value area was highlighted, nor did it have a candlestick to show open/close and direction--and so I did not find them of much use. But then I set them up (as you showed) with a 40% value overlay (actually 38%--half a standard deviation), and a candlestick showing open/close and direction, and changed them to show one profile/candle every 8 hours, so that I get two profiles for the overnight session and one for RTH. I started then to identify (as you instructed) whether each shows a bullish, bearish, or neutral bias, and WOW... now these volume profiles provide me very useful information, and filled a big gap in my training/setup. Thanks so much for this instructive and valuable video, and keep up the great work!

@@nonsookwuenu create a candlestick chart, add the Volume By Price study, make sure "draw study underneath main price graph" is NOT checked off, set Ticks Per Volume Bar to 1, set Volume Graph Period to "Multiple Profiles Based on Bar Count," set the corresponding number of bars per bar count to 1, set Maximum Volume Bar Width Type to "Period Length," and set Maximum Volume Bar Width Percentage to 80. Then expand the time axis to fit the volume profiles and you should be set!

Hey Adam! I've been watching your videos on volume and this video I've watched 20 times by now. I paper trade the NQ specifically the micros. Your advice was beautifully displayed today 2/1/2024 on the charts with TPO layovers because I'm on tradingview. I used the tpo 1 day interval on the 4 hour chart and switched to the 1 hour on the 1-5 min timeframe. Watched volume for confirmations. Drew some wedge lines after the market set a higher high and higher low. Chart rose the wedge and broke out above on the previous day POC with increased volume and BOOM. You're amazing for this video. Honestly, thank you. I finally get the contextual setups you've been trying to drill into everyone

I noticed that candlesticks formations only form at this highly 'liquid' areas. Actually I think I can trade by only at looking at the candlesticks and the moomentum. It's like a paradox haha. Whether I draw my support or resistance areas or not, characteristic candlesticks will eventually print at this levels

Hi. I have watched your video many times and taking notes. I have some questions: (1) can prior daily volume profiles (or your term Candlestick profiles) be used to determine key levels for next session? (2) do you use volume profile for overnight session (after NY session closes) as part of premarket analysis? (3) approximately 12:40 of the above video, please note the large green candlestick at the top that closed above the POC and VA, which, according to what you said, represents a bullish bias and it was not a "top heavy" distribution, but it reversed. Why? (4) you mention about "double distributions" or multiple high nodes. Why? Thank you in advance for answering the questions. Looking forward to watch more videos. Thank you again.

1) Yes 2) I use an 8 hour profile that starts at 1:00 a.m. EST 3) Volume Profiles aren't 100% accurate, you're going to need to apply additional context to them. Sure I could go back and come up with some reasons why, but the simple answer is it just didn't work. 4) Double distributions are just a sign of a trending market. Price continues to go into discovery in search of new buyers or sellers.

hello and thank you so much for your content. I find your explanation on volumes very interesting but I had a lot of difficulty following your reasoning when you show the 2 windows side by side: although you indicate the candles with an arrow on one side and a gray square on the other, I stopped the video several times to understand which candles in the right window created the candles shown in the left window. In the first example, at minute 14:08, on the left you indicate a green candle (which opens low and closes high), but on the right you have highlighted a movement of candles that starts from the top and closes low, therefore a red candle on the left timeframe. By comparing the 2 graphs, it is possible to identify the two candles that form the double bottom, but the rest of the candles, the movements, how you determine the line whose break you expect, are all things that I, perhaps I am the only one, am not really managed to understand. Since you asked for opinions on the video, I would like to tell you that it would be easier to follow your explanations if the candles and timeframes were more easily identifiable. For the rest, thank you very much for sharing your skills with us.

I agree, in the future I will clarify it better. In this example each volume profile is 2 hours. So the green top heavy profile (2nd from right) represents 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The shaded grey area on the right hand side represents the profile furthest to the right. I actually screwed up because that profile would actually represent 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and I only highlighted to the close of RTH which is 4:00 p.m.

Standard or Order Flow. The main difference for me is the Order Flow package has cumulative volume delta, which I use in my personal strategy. However, it may not be something you end up using. I want to warn you that their customer service is not good. They don't even respond to me on stuff and I promote their product for free. You may want to mess around with the free edition a bit first. It is well documented online.

Volume Profile isn't a "strategy," it simply provides context. There is NO crystal ball. It tells one where folks felt there was fair value, high and low levels of liquidity. Interpret that context/information before jumping in using your strategy.

After doing a good amount of back-testing and checking what some other instructors say about this, I am concerned that the graphics used to illustrate how high-volume nodes can act as support (8:52) or resistance (9:38) are actually misleading. As you said, high-volume nodes tend to act as gravity, and yet these two graphics portray high-value nodes as repelling price action--which is certainly not what they tend to do in actuality. If the graphics showed price action getting pulled into the high-volume nodes and getting stuck there for a while, that would be more representative of what tends to happen in real life. The support/resistance would then be on the opposite end of those high-value nodes, keeping price action from going beyond.

Hi Victor, similar to a swing high or low, a prior value area tells you who was the aggressor at those prices. For example, if price forms value area and then rallies higher, you know that buyers were the aggressor at those levels. Now that doesn't mean it's going to turn every time, just like it won't at a swing low or high. Now, if you're looking at a daily profile, yes price will tend to revert back to value throughout the day unless you have a strong trend and a double distribution forms. I successfully traded with volume profiles for over a decade of my 20+ year career.

I am not gonna lie, your explanation about the volume profiles is really clear and easy to understand. Learning without know the exact point about what we try to learn is makes all more complicated, like i.e what is happening or what the decision should we make by data that we gathered from the volume Cluster and Profiles. But because of your video its makes all easier now. Thanks for the insight, its really helpfull.

Adam, one more question popped up, when re-viewing and training the setups. - Do you look at support/resistance (formed through high volume nodes on earlier sessions in the context chart -possibly stacked nodes-), as potentially being "in the way" of a trade? So as a potential roadblock. For example: At 15:55 you'd go short at around 17092 in this example. However if you look left several sessions, there's a block of 3 stacked high volume nodes at about 17075 - 17085 (estimation). Do you look at this at all or am I maybe just front running future modules here (sorry if that's the case), haha. Anyway this keeps popping into my mind when looking at setups.

Yes it is something I take into consideration and stacked is exactly what I call them :) When I'm scalping I tend to focus on the most recent profile. On my longer time frame analysis (8Hr, Daily, & Weekly) I looked for stacked HVN's and LVN's.

Brother, you are truly sharing words of wisdom and in such a professional and easily digestible way. This level of training is not found typically in courses that cost thousands of dollars, so thank you! One quick question on this lesson (while the channel is still small enough temporarily for you to take in all the comments), when you show the setup at 15:05 , how are you determining your entry/stop exactly? Is it simply based on the final candle of the hour? Sorry to bug, I went back and rewatched several times and still a bit unclear.

Very observant! I was just using candle breaks for examples as I won't be getting into any triggers (patterns) until the next module. The stop should have been below the swing low around 16,760 and the entry should have been above the break of that first bullish bar. I hate making mistakes on a video as I can't go back and fix it! Yes. After two years of studying trading concepts to eventually applying them withing a strategy/edge, I feel I have finally found in Volume Profiles the missing piece for ME, that edge, because I can now tell CONTEXT based on distribution... Thanks... I am reviwing the videos, taking notes, doing the exercises to practice and backtest... I can finally see myself trading, applying this edge in the near future. Have to save this vid for the weekend. I know from watching some of your prior vids that yes, using volume is your primary indicator used for trading. Every other video I watch explaining any other type of indicator all say the same thing, when the indicator displays a possible trade opportunity, confirm the set up with price action & Volume.
