On MacOS (also windows probably) you could set up multiple desktops , for example that shares content from desktop and another for your presentation. Then you could just use keyboard shortcuts to jump back and forth. Also, remember that Teams can record the meeting, super useful.

A tip that may, perhaps, be of help to others who generally swear at their computers and have to go outside and collect the pieces after having tossed the damned thing out the window. Again. I appreciate your vibe, Matt; what you say and how you say it. I appreciate, also, your differentiating the guidance for the masses from that for lovers of the arcane. Since watching your video yesterday for the first time, I learned one thing on the camera front (Lenovo 13s, Win 10): the stock camera app has a butt ugly, wide border which I couldn't seem to make any less conspicuous and the image is also not rendered very well, to my eye. On a lark, I downloaded OBS - because you "said" not to! - and to my (general) delight, I found that, without a lot of head-banging and no F-bombs at all, I could get an almost borderless selfie video window in play to set either side-by-side or screen-in-screen with a PP deck. With either OBS or the stock camera app, one still has to fiddle with (one at a time) access to the camera between Teams and Cam/OBS, however. Nonetheless, you present really useful and watchable tutorials. Thank you. PS. If you happen to have, at your fingertips, a link to a great cookbook for file-sharing/LAN connectivity between El Cap MacOS and Win 10, that would be amazing.

I like the option to have the video in the background with the content in a window over top (7:15), but I think the reverse would be even more useful. The content should be full screen with the presenter in a small window over the top (say lower right corner). The problem is you need focus on Powerpoint to advance slides, thus hiding the video. Is there a way to make the video 'always on top'?

What is your recommendation for learning the difference between the controls the host sees... And the placement of the controls of what the user sees? Maybe that’s an idea for a new tutorial? As a trainer, I am always training new users and describing to them the controls and placement of where to find icons. Win 10 devices to Win 10 devices; I am learning that the placement of controls appears to be different for a host, than the user. (At home, I use a Mac, and love it!)

Silly question - is there anyway to do this feature in Teams if you are the "producer" (person sharing their screen for the ppt presentation) but have another person on video speaking to the content?
@jumpto3654 жыл бұрын
Not as cleanly, no. But you could pin the person in the Teams meeting so that person is the one showing up as biggest, then put the Teams window next to the content (slides, etc.) and share that way. The video *might* be a tad delayed behind the audio, though, since the video would be going to you then re-shared from your screen to the rest of the attendees (whereas the audio goes straight to everyone immediately). You'd still see all the buttons on the Teams window, but it might help out in this situation. Interesting question!

The biggest downside is in my opinion the fact that the real content appears small. People on smaller screens would have hard time to read fonts, etc. It would be better to have bigger content and camera feed stacked over. But for this you would need OBS, for instance.

Neat. We are switching to teams from another video conferencing app. And have been using two or more meetings at once so multiple people can share screens at the same time, with the audio connected to only one meeting. It seems that we can do this in teams if we start the additional meetings using the online app, so we loose some of the functionality of the teams app in the other meetings. Any tips for multiple people sharing screens at the same time in a teams meeting?

On Mac you can do both! It's up to you whether you want it to continue going through Teams (could be a distraction or confuse people to bring your face up full and ignore your screen share). Note that on Windows, Teams hogs the camera feed so you can't show it on both. You actually must turn off video in Teams before opening a webcam app.

It's not really a solution having anything to do with Microsoft Teams. I was hoping for an actual picture-in-picture mode. But, doesn't Teams take exclusive control over my camera when I'm in a meeting? As long as my camera app indeed still continues to show the video while I'm hosting a Teams presentation, I'm happy.

Does this also work with presenter view? I know in your other video you recommend using just one monitor when doing presenter view (which is a great idea) but I guess you can't do that and share your screen? Thanks!
@jumpto3654 жыл бұрын
I haven’t figured out a way to get presenter view and share your face. Might be able to do split screen between PowerPoint and QuickTime on Mac, but I’d have to test (I’m thinking it’s unlikely). Chances are you’re on Windows, though, and I don’t have a way to try that out. Since this split screen is not exactly “an intended use of the software”, it’s also really unlikely MS would ever update the app to make this easier or work better.

Sadly, as an educator this did not work. It took to much time to flip between the media player camera and Teams camera since both do not work at the same time :(
@jumpto3654 жыл бұрын
@@beatrizyarrish6867 yeah, as with many features on apps like this, it comes down to what your priorities are. If you value face with content most, you'll have to accept the few seconds time delay to switch between enabling your webcam with the camera app or Teams. This also seems to be device-specific, so a different computer may prevent the issue.
