Just a quick reference to those around the 15:00 mark. Damping sphere does not affect utopia sprawl as the enchantment is making the extra mana, not the land. Sphere specifically needs the land to make 2+ mana. It does however, tax things like BBE cascading into things. Also, filter lands + damping sphere are usually a non-bo. Filter lands have a cost where you pay a mana, tap the filter, then the filter makes 2 mana of whatever color(s) you chose. Because of that, the sphere only makes it make 1 colorless, even though you paid the mana to filter. Of course, Reid only has one filter, so it usually wouldn't be an issue, but it can!

I figured when he mentioned Utopia Sprawl that he was talking about the other half of Damping Sphere. Usually it is cast before another spell, so that next spell would cost 1 more.

It could be a budget/convenience issue or again, as every time someone makes this comment, it's a common testing tool to represent a "bubble" card you might not be sure should be in the deck. If you're trying to figure out if you should have X copies in a deck versus Y and you have another card/s in mind every time that bubble version pops up you can note "What if this was another Push?" "What if this was Tireless Tracker?" etc.

I may be mad but I feel like almost coming 5 colour jund (yes the name is contradicting) could help in so many match ups - adding in path gives so much more game against Hollow one, vengevine, wurmcoil, eldrazi etc and then adding in 2 - 4 copies of ancestral visions that you can cascade into for longer grinder games along with a one of fetch able blue shock land if it goes to hand. Obviously the mana base will take a hit so maybe one of junds main colours needs to take a bit of a hit and become more of a splash as well but I think there's some serious potential and gives a wider amount of sideboard cards.

Have you ever tested tireless tracker in Jund? There must be a reason why no one plays it in this deck or has it not been tested? It gives some card advantage like bloodbraid elf and it lowers the mana curve and not as painful when u hit him with Bob.

Some pretty rough games there Reid. Are you going to be at Vegas tomorrow singling that jund again? I’ll be there rooting for you but for myself first!!!;) is jelly that you get to sleep in with a round 3 bye. I’ve just started playing again at ixalan pre release and I’ve managed to earn a first round bye!!! I didn’t even know how it worked or I would have played a little more often to get the second round one at 2250. But good luck to you and I hope you draw better than you did today, unless it’s vs me of course !!!!

At 57:30... I don't understand the no attack with the Tarmogoyff. You present a kill next turn and the best that the opponent can do is play a second Swiftspear, and a one-mana 3 damage spell, and deal 7 damage to you (if you don't chump with the Lavamancer), and you are at 8. Am I missing something? Maybe opponent plays two Swiftspears, hits for 2, and leave one back to chump Goyff with the hope of double burn you next turn after top-decking two one-mana 3 damage burn spells? Cannot happen since Lavamancer clears the way for Goyff for lethal.

Modern is a format where people tend to play what they like/know rather than what the best deck is, way more so than standard. Just because Jund isn't the best deck, doesn't mean there aren't still a ton of Jund players around. Also the deck has been competitive for years and hasn't changed much, so it makes sense to hang on to it if you got it.

Ya I think it's in a tough spot. It's not good against most of the unfair decks, barring maybe storm, but it's also not the best of the grindy midrange decks (that title goes to Mardu Pyro). I would actually love to see Reid pilot the Mardu deck, I think it has the right mix of unfair cards and a great grindy game.
