The hazmat tone you hear is ASC's Fire tone. It's basically a more stretched out attack signal. After the test is done, the system is polled for each sirens status.
@KJ7BZC2 жыл бұрын
Beautiful recordings of the signal, its called Compulert and was developed by American Signal Corporation. There is an encoder modelled CSC-960 that generates the FSK signals heard, decoded by a special receiver on the siren's end.
@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL2 жыл бұрын
The decoder is called an ASC RTU. I bet the CSC-960 is what does Two-Tone as well as those encoders can do DTMF and Two-Tone besides FSK

Is there a way to decode these transmissions to see what these tones are communicating? Or is that something that is limited information? Im curious because if you can decode those tones and see what they're trying to transmit, Id love to see whats happening in my area. My city uses “Project 25 Phase 2”. What is the frequency of it?
@THEFINALHAZARD3 ай бұрын
@@hilo2-est3-elevif than the case, there’s no set frequency. 9,999 times of 10,000 a P25 Phase II system is on a trunking network which utilizes a table of frequencies that the radio controller picks from the first available frequency. Each “agency” and their stuff are on talkgroup IDs. Eg Fire Dispatch is talkgroup 1000. Well dispatcher keys up on TG1000, and the first available frequency is 852.6125 Well there’s a pause between that and the unit response. The trunking computer shifts everything radio and server side from that to 858.4100 as now PD with Talkgroup 76219 is on 852.6125 Usually on networks like that you don’t have much actual tones. Digital compression distortion is bad and has rendered QC1 tones completely unusable. QC2 works if you program a tone range due to compression pitch changes; but stuff like this specifically for siren activation tends to be encrypted. Scanner wise the BCD436HP is what I use for that and it’s as simple as creating a favorites list in the software of what you do/don’t wanna hear; or just entering a zip code to the scanner-assuming the nationwide database on it is up to date that is

NOAA radios are totally separate from this handheld, and this radio in the video (a baofeng uv-5r) is not all that special, just a basic analog transceiver with the dispatch frequency programmed in. It’s also illegal to transmit but not to listen

Those DTMF tones that you heard that sounded like a phone dialing at the end it was the pound of symbol that went through six times and then it dialed 12 so that basically knows that I know how to decode that shit so anybody could set that shit off and it's using that compulert system which is why you were hearing those squeals and whatnot prior to the DTMF on the VHF repeater system
