All of your makes are beautiful. Everything you made for yourself fits you perfectly! I love the rib knit dress. I do have some in my stash which I will be sewing up soon. Every time I see your makes for the children it brings back memories when I use to sew for my children. I truly enjoyed it. They are all fully grown now. The pajamas and night gown was so nice! Always enjoy your videos. Looking forward to your next video!👗🧵🪡🥰

Absolutely love your makes. About the rib knit, I made a dress out of it as well and it came up a bit loose as well. Someone told me that when u use rib knits u need to size down, because of its elasticity. I did not put it on practice, but I'll try next time I use rib knit. Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the family! 😚
@sewamelia2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Julia, that is really helpful to know! I will definitely size down next time I make the Zoey. I hope you are having a great week too! ❤

It was great to catch up on what you've been sewing. I love your Zoey dress and actually really like how it flares out at the hip. I feel like that would be a bit more forgiving for tummy fluctuations. The floral ribbed knit is beautiful! I might need to give that pattern another look, but I think it would be good to reinforce the shoulder straps with such a long/heavy dress. I am always a sucker for a shirred dress, and your black and white one is gorgeous. Glad to hear that you've had a month of sewing what you fancied!
@sewamelia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! It was lovely just going with the flow and sewing what I fancied in the moment. I adore the Zoey dress and it is perfectly shaped for a lovely flow over the tummy area. I have been wearing it on repeat this month! ❤

That wiggle fabric is fabulous. I wonder if the Ogden cami in the sateen needs less volume than making it in something flowy like a viscose. What a prolific bounce-back from no-sewjo May! Could also add clear elastic in your Zoey straps as that works well with swim sewing. Thanks Amelia
@sewamelia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment. You might be right about the Ogden and I might find it fits differently in a viscose, so I will bear that in mind next time I make it. The clear elastic in the Zoey straps is such a good idea too - I will definitely think about that before I fix the straps! Thank you so much for watching!

Love the video! I love your thoughtful determination to achieve the look you want. The horsehair hem is fantastic! I really admire your determination to get the perfect fit. I really appreciate the way you tackle all your projects as I find myself doing the same thing!

For the Zoey Dress issue with the straps you could sew some dressmaking elastic on the underside. It comes in narrow widths. If you make another just add it whilst sewing. Love your vlogs 💖

OMG I had exactly the same issues with the Zoey using a rib knit, I have had to unpick and take out the sides and the straps stretch out a bit too much. I think its the rib knit not having great recovery as I made a toile too in a cotton jersey for the top and that was fine. What lovely makes as always - I love the circle skirt you made. So glad you were happy with the fabric you won in #selflesssewapril22 they are lovely makes for you children. x

Beautiful makes Amelia, the shirring dress is just gorgeous I do like how you have designed it (I have a 'soft spot' for dresses with shirring as I had a little sun dress when I was a little girl that had shirring all along the front). I must take a look at Nerida Hansen fabrics I am on their email list however I have never had a really good look at what fabrics they have. I bought a whole lot of Lady McElroy fabrics last week as it was sale time being the end of the financial year here in Australia. Happy sewing

Thank you Allison. I remember wearing little shirred sundresses as a child too - maybe that is why I like them so much too! I love Lady McElroy fabrics - hope you are enjoying sewing up the ones you bought. Thanks so much for watching.

On the Zoey dress after you launder it, the straps should shrink back to the original length you made, before wearing dress just sew in 1/4” beige stay tape- it’ll keep from stretching.
