Lol June should have clocked Johnny with the toaster! Great sketch right here, that newspaper gag was really good.

Comedy gold! June Foray, the Queen of Voiceovers for so many beloved TV characters, and a very young Johnny Carson...what a great pair! These skits are hilarious. And did I see the Wicked Witch of the West show up as her mother?

Foray was also one of the early members of ASIFA-Hollywood, the society devoted to promoting and encouraging animation. She is credited with the establishment of the Annie Awards, as well as being instrumental in the creation of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2001. In 2012, she received her first Emmy Award nomination, in the category of Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for her role as Mrs. Cauldron on The Garfield Show: Which Witch. At age 94, she was the oldest entertainer to be nominated for, and receive, an Emmy Award.

Died before she was born, truly a legend before her time. *moment of silence* But seriously, if she died 7/26/2017, she barely missed her 100th bday. That sort of seems like being cheated in spite of having an amazingly long and productive life. What a legacy she left behind!

How did she keep from blinking while she froze wide-eyed with that toaster in her hand? Gotta love this lady! She must have been a delight to work with. According to a Tex Avery documentary, she was his favorite female voice artist.

John Stephenson was more or less part of the cast. He appeared in the episodes playing this same character, reading fictional newscasts and setting up the Carson sketches. Love seeing Stephenson on-camera. He had a commanding voice.

I looked up this clip last week, just a few days before June passed away. The day Michael Jackson died, I was trying to do the moonwalk and then I found out he died. It's so strange how those things can happen. I think June would've made a great comedic actress for TV but I'm glad she stuck to voice acting.

Her original ambition was to be a dramatic actress. I think she drifted toward voice work because that's what she was offered.

June Foray was amazing and irreplaceable. Interesting scene in this video where the visiting "mother-in-law" calls Johnny a worthless no-good bum and it turns out she's his mother, not June's. Kind of what his real mother thought of him.

Just a guess, but I think that June is doing Audrey Meadows from "The Honeymooners." Sounds awfully similar, with a hint of a New York accent. "The Honeymooners" would have been on when this was filmed. Her ability to do the impression may have been why she makes this rare on-screen appearance.
