I grew up watching the 1960 version of Pollyanna with Hayley Mills, who incidentally also starred in the Disney adaptation of The Moon Spinners! We had the VHS tape, and I can’t count the number of times I watched it. What a wonderful role model Pollyanna was for me, along with Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. I didn’t even know Pollyanna was based on a book until recently, so I’ll have to finally read it. I completely agree with you about there being a line between describing a terrible event, and going into so much detail that it’s almost celebrating it. You described my feelings exactly.

I have that same edition of Pollyanna, and I LOVE the Glad Book series! What's interesting about the series is that it was written by different authors and follows Pollyanna through adulthood and motherhood. Most recently, I read Pollyanna in Hollywood by Elizabeth Borton, who might be my favorite author of the series because of the way she brought together so many storylines.

I love Sarah Sundin, too! I haven't read the series you are reading, but have read most everything else she has written. I appreciate what you said about how she handles tough topics. That is exactly what I love about a good Christian author - they are not afraid to handle tough topics, but they do so in a way promotes hope and celebrates overcoming. I just read Pollyanna a couple of years ago. I loved it too. I haven't gone on to read any of the others in the series. Thanks for sharing your dress! It is hard to find a flowy, cool, summer dress with sleeves. Hope your July is off to a great start!

The newer versions were so changed, as though their souls got yanked from them. :) It's possible to find good deals on the originals and the Applewood versions (just like the originals) from the 90's via Ebay and Bookfinder. I had every intention of reading at least one western in June and I didn’t make it either. I’m hoping though to pick up one at least during the summer. It seems that beginning in July my reading goals and challenges take off, some due to you tube and some personal challenges and plans. I love these types of videos. I’m kind of a quiet and simple soul I guess too, and while I’m content many might find my life boring😊 I do like to enjoy and acknowledge the everyday moments that mean so much. I have to add, red is definitely your color, you look beautiful ❤️

As for shoes, I don't wear them in the house either. The older I get the more I go for comfort. I have kicked off July with Love and Marriage in the Age of Jane Austen, which I am really enjoying.

Like you, I read the Nancy Drew revised books as a kid. Some of the originals were printed with matte yellow spines. And only the first 34 were revised in later years. Starting at book 35, they were only written with 20 chapters. When in doubt, check the chapter count…revised versions have 20 chapters, originals have 25 chapters. I do have a few books in both versions and plan to read them both and compare the differences. But I haven’t done that yet, it is on my very long bookish to-do list. 😂
