I love TBR videos, they are inspiring, and sometimes I have the same book on my TBR and might read one and then watch the recap/review video if there is one , and relate to or disagree which is very fun. I am currently reading The last kingdom by Bernard Cornwell. I wish it had TW/CW/SA warning in the beginning of the book though because I am just like 40 pages in and am considering DNFing it because of the way women are described as "awards" after winning a fight. And the women have no say. It is a historical fiction so I don't know what I expected, I just know that I have read other historical fiction books that I loved and didn't feel the need for TW/CW. I know I didn't want to watch the movie or series (don't remember which) of this book because it seemed brutal and not my cup of tea, and the only reason I am reading it is because I had the second book at home (borrowed this one from the library) which is called The pale horseman and really wanted to read that one. At that time I didn't know it was a part two and when I found out I reconned I had to read The last kingdom first... Now I am considering DNFing that one and just unhauling The pale horseman unread. Maybe I will read a few more pages to see if the language differs or if it gets worse or whatever. But a part of me don't want to condone that sort of writing either when I have read books in the same category that did a better job describing the era without completely leaving out this part of what the vikings did (I know they took slaves and behaved badly towards women, I am swedish and know the history, I just don't need to visualize it). I am also reading Dead souls by Nikolaj Gogol as this months book from The Rory Gilmore challenge. I am enjoying that far more. I have finished a couple books on my TBR for this month already: Vera Wong's unsolicited advice for murderers (loved it!) is one of them. 🍒💗

Too Late is a very dark psychological book, I can't remember if it's a thriller but it's an incredibly toxic relationship
