I enjoy Longfellow poetry, and I do like Evangeline too. I don’t love poetry all the time, but he is one that I almost always enjoy.

Yeah, I've read a lot of different poetry that I don't really enjoy. A lot of modern poetry seems to be just the poet venting about things in their life, and I like the more classic poetry that talks about life in general or things around them (like nature) or told stories. And yes, I enjoyed all of Longfellow's poems too, at least in this book.

Thanks for reminding me that I haven't settled on a favorite book for June. Should do that before finishing my wrap up. 😂😂

Haha, no problem!

Katara and the Pirate's Silver was fine, I think. I think I gave it three stars.

The cover of that Longfellow book is terrifying.

🤣 You're not wrong! I would very much like to find a copy with a better cover at some point.

Charlotte's sisters got sick and died at boarding school, huh? *Looks at Helen Burns suspiciously* 😂😂😂
@Coffee_and_a_Book2 ай бұрын
Yeah.... I didn't realize that either when I read Jane Eyre. The boarding school section was probably my least favorite part in that book, but now it makes sense why she put it there.

Even if I wasn't fully on the complementarion side (which I am), the tone of the Penny book, what with the other kids saying the "only men can be pastors" stuff, sounds obnoxious.
@Coffee_and_a_Book2 ай бұрын
To be fair, the kids weren't obnoxious or rude about it, they just seemed confused. Like Penny preaching to them just didn't make sense. But yeah, some of those aspects were clearly there to fuel the story and eventually make the point the authors wanted to make.
