Jungian Dream Interpretation: Dreaming about your Shadow Self

Note: I was just at a dream interpretation workshop, and someone said that the fact that I have brown hair, could indicate I need to look at what brown symbolizes. Apparently it might have to do with the Root or Sacral chakra, or like intimacy issues or digestive/colon issues. I don't know, but there are perhaps themes of those with the flirtation/romantic connection that doesn't end up happening and the content of the pizza. Thoughts? The leader of the group says that brown indicates something about practicality (maybe being too practical or needing to be practical). I really thought it might indicate a past life because I always have blonde hair in my dreams otherwise, and also, there was a weird disconnect with the consciousness, like my conscious had a kind of duality - partly within the brown-haired woman but also as an observer (outside of her). P.S. I don't ever eat pizza IRL, but I want to. lol.

Have you ever dreamt of your shadow self? Do you think that the girl in my dream, because she didn't look like me IRL is my shadow self, or would that not be accurate? I've only had one other dream where I didn't look like I do in IRL, and that one was even weirder.

Your shadow will appear as the same sex in your dream, according to Jung. Seems likely it's your shadow. The number of pizza slices and time after which pizza is free is interesting. I'd look at the corresponding tarot cards 6, 8, 14 and 5. Thank you for sharing ✌️

@@pandoraephraim3552 Thank you. I didn't think about looking at the Major Arcana if that is what you mean. Also, I kind of had a new revelation this morning about the 'patriarchy' part of the dream. Maybe it is not referring to an outside societal/cultural perspective, but simly indicating I have kind of "old Divine Father/masculine" energy within that I need to clear out in order to develop the animus.

@philosophy_schilling I think that's a fascinating perspective that's worth investigating. Yes, major arcana is what I had in mind. Might be worth looking at the different suits in those numbers too. But I'd focus on the major for sure.

@@pandoraephraim3552 Cool. Yes, I was thinking since there was a lot of emotion and perhaps mental issues, maybe the suits of water and then swords (according to my deck - I don't have a traditional one).

I eat junk food in my dreams very frequently… I tend to think of it as wish fulfillment but I don’t feel like that is a very satisfying explanation. My take is that indulgence in food is an easy way for the psyche to represent indulgence in general. In my mind I’ve put austerity and asceticism high up on the list of virtues, admittedly to the point of being unbalanced. Your unconscious looks like it’s doing something similar. Even the ideology that the shadow self alludes to when yelling at the pizza guy seems sort of indulgent. The brown haired woman appears free in a way that welcomes indulgence. Not to be flippant but she seems like a funny character😅

Thanks for sharing. I totally agree, she would be perfect on some kind of melodrama series. That was the vibe. Hot but also kind of crazy. What is going on in my psyche?!
