Late to the party I know but JK can read music sheets. It was demonstrated in one of the Run BTS episodes (where JK, JM & JHope were a team and had to play bells to the music sheet). He just doesn’t know the name of the notes. He knows what sound those notes make.

Jungkook is the most talented vocalist, i’ve never heard a voice this beautiful before. He has so many responsibility as the main vocalist since their debut and he never disappoints! Sadly many people can’t respect the fact that he is the only main vocalist and that his role his essential to the group. No one could do what he does. He helps the other vocalists a lot too till this day. His voice is so versatile, he could sing any genre and sound amazing. He has worked so hard (and still works hard) to improve and that’s one of the reasons why everytime he sings, he leaves people speechless.

There are many good vocalists, there are many great main vocalists in Kpop but there is only one Jungkook. Take it as you want.... this young man is very, very, very special. Sheer ignorance of some people who claim he is not that special and his position as a main vocalist is unfair, undeserved or gifted to him as some kind of strange privilege is mind boggling. This video is basically a slap to everybody´s ignorant face and I am so happy it exists. What JK is NOT particularly good at and pays high price for is shameless self promotion. When I see how incredibly talented he is, how hard working and selflessly sharing of his knowledge he is to everybody who is in need of it but how infinitely humble he remains I feel like we do not deserve him. @@Chips553 Totally and completely. Very well said. I have noticed the very same and I admire him for it even more. I also think that one of the reasons why he is so incredibly skilled and picks on things he is interested in so easily and improves quickly is the very same trait you mentioned; his mind works in such a way that he is turning all energy inwards in sharp focus instead of watching others in attempt to either copy them / be like them/ become better than them. The most common approach ( psychologically) is to pick a goal we set for ourselves based on observations of or comparisons to others ( to become faster than Usain Bolt, to earn more money than Gates, ROFL, to get better body than XY). I do not believe he thinks that way. He is his own goal. I have been noticing the same intense drive and crazy inward focus many times over and over. Not just in his singing, but also during their Run episodes, where he usually retrieves to a distant corner and concentrates in silence on his task at hand instead of looking at what others so. Or even when he loses the game, and can´t change the final result, he continues trying to prove HIMSELF that he can do it. He doesn´t compare himself to others, he doesn´t copy others, he doesn´t try to beat others or become batter than others - he is his own biggest competition and nobody else. That pushes him forward without wasteful distractions or envy spent on comparisons to others. Such a remarkable quality and I think it has been serving him well. Jeon Jungkook - a star dust boy - magical and almost unreal :-)

You can watch RUN BTS EP. 150 clip of where the staffs played the bells while the members are looking at the back. They need to identify what bells were they playing. And Jungkook answered and played it correctly in just a first try.

Yep JK has perfect pitch and yes there is a Run BTS where he does it with his back turned while they played the notes and he was able to get it correct on his first try. It was impressive to say the least. 🙂💜💜

Glad you watched this! I find it confusing when some people say “oh, but they’re all main vocalists” or something in response to this, because it’s an objective fact that jk is the main, like RM is objectively the leader. It’s not really sth you can have an opinion on, it’s just a fact. And that doesn’t discredit the other 3 because they are obviously all amazing, but jk does put a lot of hard work into his role that should be recognised by Army imo. Jungkook really is amazing. As he says, he can put different colours into his voice. There’s an incredible number of layers in their songs. Of course it’s not just JK doing the adlibs. Just a short, ‘ugh!’ or ‘aye’ from the rappers along with the vocal line’s harmonisations brings the song to life but he really is the backbone of the group.

You absolutely nailed the difference between relative and perfect (or absolute) pitch. My ex husband has perfect pitch, it’s quite something. Being around someone like that is really interesting. A person’s voice could sound absolutely fine to me and most people but to him he could hear the slightest deviation of the note that I couldn’t hear. Another bizarre thing about him was he started playing piano at 2 years old, never had lessons, so at some point he must have developed this ability as a child. The only problem with perfect pitch is when they hear a piano out of tune, or singer out of tune, it’s really unpleasant for them lol. Like nails down a chalkboard unpleasant. The RUN episode 151 Staycation - Jungkook proves to everybody he’s got perfect pitch. He listened to the notes on the bells one time, got them all right immediately. That boy has perfect pitch, no doubt about it.

I don't know if Jungkook has perfect pitch, but in a Run BTS game the staff played a random rhythm on 8 bells (do, re, mi....do), and Jungkook got it on the first try. I don't know if he could name the individual notes, but he can easily remember the different pitches and recreate them (maybe relative pitch then).

It might be perfect pitch , due that he done it at first try, you do not need to know the name of the notes many people are playing on the instruments while had never even seen any music notes. Because he can easily recreates the notes means that he might have a perfect pitch.

Yes, Jungkook does have actual “perfect pitch”, they said that on the RUN episode in the subtitles. Also, producers who worked with BTS have also confirmed this. It was written in Kim Youngdae’s book, “BTS: the Review”, and the producer, Brother Su, who worked them on “I Need U” said Jungkook has actual “perfect pitch”. This information is also in that book. 💜

Jungkook stated himself that he has perfect pitch but doesn't necessarily know the note names. It's possible he developed it using fixed Do solfege rather than moveable Do. I know they all use solfege when describing notes, so they probably learned that in school music programs. I think that's much more common in Asian countries than in America. I used to have relative pitch based on where a note lay in my voice. When I was singing full time I could hum and tell you what pitch it was within about half a step to a step. So I might hear an F# and think it was F or G. Like that.

All our vocalists are top tier … it is what it is… but jungkook is the main vocalist for a very good reason…. And it’s bc he puts the most hours in the studio, has been doing so much behind the scenes since debut that you never know… if you ask bts “who is the best vocalist in bts,” they have always all said jungkook without shying away from it… that’s what really made me clue into what the other boys were saying and how they go to him for help or how they know exactly what he can do and expect of him…. When I started to play viola it was so frustrating for me to be able hear when a tone was off but not if it was to high or to low so I stopped playing and actually never tryed it again even though I was learning really fast and it wasn't that hart but it just bothered me so much :') I also startet to play a chello at school and teached it pretty much myself but since I'm not at school anymore I haven't played in two years :( I really like your content and I hope u have a greate day :)

As many other comments have said, Jungkook does indeed appear to have perfect pitch. I also remember a few years ago that some musicians were wondering if V also had it because there was a clip of him somewhere and chickens were making noise and he was able to correctly identify the notes the chickens were hitting lol. Don't know if that was ever followed up with anything or later dis-proven, but I found it hilarious and interesting at the time!
