Looks like your fuel mixture is a bit too oil rich. Empty the tank, clear out the spark arrest, run the tiniest bit of unleaded through it, and i mean the tiniest bit, and it should strip off the excess carbon build up on the valve. Then go back to your 1:50 mix. And remove the guard. You get through it all much quicker.

Yeah it was a 1:50 mix which was odd, the other strimmer had the same and was fine. It’s an old strimmer though and ended up breaking at the end of the job

Twisted ankle, done it a few times and I dread it every time. It hurts, the pain fades then a bit later it flares up and hurts a lot. But by the morning it's usually back to normal. Still, it's possible to break them doing that, so at least that didn't happen.

Wow. Don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large, strong, tall, healthy and tight collection of weeds anywhere! Not even out in the country here, where you’d expect to see that. 🇨🇦 And, the contrast with the place next door is so ridiculous! That neighbour must be glad it’s done. Sorry about your foot - I once had an avulsion fracture from doing the same thing, and it’s the only time pain has ever made me cry. An ankle high hiking boot will help you to get around later while it’s healing. Fabulous job. Can you go back at the end of the summer and see what the homeowner turns it into? That would be great to see.

Yep, Austin Powers was the first thing I thought of as well! Just more proof that great minds think alike!!! And I agree with the first aid kit as well. An instant cold pack and an Ace bandage to wrap up with would have gone a long way in helping with the pain and swelling.

Great job! When I saw the pole sticking out I knew that is how you hurt your foot. I feel your pain. I once sprain my ankle and the doctor once told me that a sprain can be worse than a break at times. Just wait one day you will sneeze or move your eyes wrong and throw your back out. You two didn't lack for courage. Noted you were using a brush cutter instead of string on the trimmer. That was a pretty stunning transformation. It was a little hard to believe it could be done but you were the ones with the experience and certainty and made it work. Paving reappeared, weeds were removed, beds found, everything cleaned and washed. You wrested a lost garden "back from the wilderness".

Little tip of the day. You can take the guard of the strimmer for a much easier cut and less stress on the motor 👍… awesome job too coz that’s back breaking work FairPlay.

Taking the guard off is dangerous and will make the brush cutter work even harder. You clearly have no experience and dont have a licence to use one. (it is smoking due the fuel mix being mixed incorrectly) He is doing the safe thing by using the guard all i would say is next time wear the correct ppe.
