The story behind these videos-in-tandem is wild. The ten screens mean ten songs.. the two ppl on the seats are the two band members of Jungle… the dancers just being puppets on a tv screen.. and it’s spanned across the whole album. That’s an insane team. Love this pocket of culture - I hope it grows

Yeah i read in an interview with Shay Latukolan that there is an overarching story across all the videos. Essentially all i've been able to piece together is that Will West and Mette Linturi are in a relationship, they break up at some point and Will West wants to try and win her back. Based on the teaser for the next video, I think we're gonna get one hell of a dance battle

Correct. And Maikalo and Diddee are the flings they had after their break up. Hence the two dancers pulling Will and Mette away from each other.

I reckon that Candle Flame takes place shortly after their breakup, with the emphasis on ‘gossip’ in that video and the whole puppet motif reflects how Will and Mette are going to treat Maikalo and Didee. Dominoes shows how they rush into the flings in an attempt to make their former lovers jealous. I’ve Been in Love further develops this, for Maikalo and Diddee, they’re in love while Will and Mette are just performatively displaying their ‘love’. Back on 74 shows that Will still wants Mette and vice versa while Maikalo and DeDee get sidelined. Us Against the World intensifies this, because Mette refuses to take Will back, they decide to full on declare war on each other. My final theory is that Holding On and You Aren’t a Celebrity are Dreams from Will and Mette’s perspective that highlight their insecurity. Mette fears that she is replaceable and Will will leave her for better looking, more powerful women. Will fears that Mette has ruined his ability to love again, which is why all the other dancers are hard to see except for Mette who haunts his dreams

Most of the other videos we’ve seen from volcano so far have so much color and visual richness going on in the costumes and the background. I think it’s interesting that this one strips all those elements away, puts everyone in the same clothing, and completely relies on the texture of the choreo and of their silhouettes (especially the hair of the girls) for visual interest and emotion
