Junior Brown played in Blacksburg Va in the early 2000's, his band were to play at the Lyric Theater right downtown. Well they showed up almost two hours late due to transportation issues. They borrowed some of the opening acts equipment, the F150's, and Junior plugged into a small amp with only a volume pedal. The amp was of course miked, but he cranked it. The result was amazing, Junior put his heart and soul into that show, the medley was a combination of Page, Clapton, Hendrix. You could hear each style. I was sold, Junior was in the top five guitarists I had ever seen.

He never really crossed over into mainstream, just kept doing his on rock-a-billy, surf, swing, country western, boogy woogy rock stuff. You'll catch him mentioned every now and then in a guitar mag even now, but the guitar magazines seem to less diverse than they once were, just seems to be a lot of metal, classic rock, and not much else.
