Anywho - he is a living legend - an absolute killer. The bending trick... @ 3:18 or so.. if you look( again ) he's previously ghost bended nearly 2 whole steps- you can see the G and D string rock a little bit as be nurses those last few bendy notes

@gmwPaul3 жыл бұрын
I don't know that he 100% intends to know every note in a show piece like this, but I do know for 100% fact that he *can* play note for note. His parents were classical musicians and he was classical guitar trained, and transferred that to Surf Guitar - which is strongly flamenco oriented. He can totally flaunt the rules so expertly because he knows how to play in total control - and chooses not to.

Love Junior, got to interview him when I was with NAMM in Nashville. That axe is his mind child he calls a Guitsteel, many songs he switches back and forth. He gets that bite because he leaves the steel finger picks on, as he needs ‘‘em for the lap steel, and no time to take those on and off, that steel on steel is what gives him that bite. He’s a Ernest Tubb singer that also loved Jimmy Hendrix. 🎉

JB is awesome. The song Michael featured here is a cover version of Jimmy Martin - "Freeborn Man" from 1969 which is in itself well worth a listen. Junior's album "12 shades of Brown" is really great including studio version of "Freeborn Man" and a few tunes that sound more like Johnny Cash than Johnny Cash does. Every song on the album is killer and being English I don't normally relate to country but it's one of my favourite albums. I don't know how I'd not heard of him til about 6 months ago?

Junior is the total package! He's a brilliant, exceptionally creative player, a terrific entertainer, and he has a very good voice. IF he had been a straight up rocker, he would be famous. But he has a tremendous reverence for old style country music, and yet he's mastered the are of playing Hendrix licks, etc. within a country context, or whatever genre of music he's putting in his blender in any given moment. Probably one reason why his videos feature comedy - as he's hard to market for any one particular genre.
