Wow, 1994 just killed Arnold's career: this was released shortly after Last Action Hero and that double whammy just destroyed him outright. In some way I can see why he took the role (DeVito was a friend, he was aiming towards being taken 'seriously' as an actor) but he just completely destroyed any credibility he had left by this point. Who did he think was going to watch this film? The same people who wanted the guy from Predator and Commando? People who thought he was just an action star? It's just amazing how thought out this wasn't. In hindsight, Arnold would have been better suited if he never met DeVito, never made 'Twins,' and made action movies until the right script came along that allowed him to show off any acting chops he had. Going towards comedies would have been okay, but you can tell that the push towards the dramatic in this film was a horrible move pushed more by budget than actual entertainment of any sort. Arnold would have been better off if he went on hiatus for a few years. Instead, 1994 broke his legs and really destroyed whatever career cred he had up to that point.
