To replace the Ab0, you can play Junk Archer & Junk Warrior for synchros. Also you can still dupe lock if you draw 1 of your 2 dupes, you just have to do your substitoad combo to end on Dupe + Swap, Swap effect bounce to hand, then Normal Summon the Dupe from your hand

I’ve been testing hero frogs for a couple weeks and had the same experience as you did. Powerful but so bricky. So I decided on just junk frogs too. I was also testing upstart but decided to go two gold sarcophagus bc if I didn’t cycle through my frogs upstart just drew me a frog a lot of the time and gold sarcophagus can get me outs to Kristia or stick up on whatever monarch I need. Felt like I was hearing myself talk about why I don’t like hero frogs 😂.

I tested gold sarc in the hero version. Maybe I’ll try it with the junk version your right about needing outs to kristya

You can dupe lock even if you have one in hand cause when you return swap in hand you gain an additionnal normal summon to summon dupe and there is a dupe lock.
