This week we open a very historic product. I say that tongue in cheek because although this was the first of many attempts to market a baseball card product solely to children, this is very much a mass produced junk wax product. It’s 1992 Donruss Triple Play!
1992 Triple Play is a 264-card single series set marketed towards children ages 5-12. The set features obnoxiously bright red borders, player quotes, and fun facts. Subsets include Little Hotshots (picturing some players when they were kids) and Awesome Action.
With that said, this set is not without a key rookie card. This set features the first, officially-licensed, mainstream trading card of the Phillie Phanatic.
Baseballcardpedia did the math, and they believe that a whopping 23 million packs were produced. That could be why you can find this wax box for around $20-25 today.
Did you have these as a kid? I certainly did. Let me know what your memories are of this set.
As always, please like, comment and subscribe. Check out some of my other videos too!
Have a great weekend and thanks for watching!
