Nobody anywhere saying it: this was to do with what happened at the Tottenham Stadium last year. To refresh your memory: Lucho (ie the team) scored a contender for goal of the season. It was ratified by VAR. The most egregious mistake in the history of English football. There was a failure of communication. The goal was not given. A red card was given against Liverpool that was not a red. Two red cards were not given against Spurs that should have been given. It wasn’t Spurs fault but they did benefit. So we decided to stuff them. I have never seen us go at a team with such vigour. Including our subs, all the key players from a year ago were there. Lucho opened and closed the scoring. That’s why they displayed more joy than normal. Spurs took a beating for the PGMOL.

Everyone forgets that Mo was injured last season, and he was missed! Ryan was hurt when he arrived and had played very little at Muninch....Slot improved the team's balance more so than Klopp, but this is still Klopps template. No doubt next year we will see the measure of Slot, but he has earned the respect and support of the Kop!

The ''cushion'' will always be limited. The PGMOL/VAR have made their strategy clear, because if Liverpool seem ready to really pull ahead then the dodgy decisions or so-called ''human errors'' occur. Forcing Liverpool to drop points, or the team closest to them ''gets'' a helping hand to narrow that gap, or both. A dubious offside goal given or denied, a red card given or ignored ( or even two ignored in a game and a one wrong one given), all these things will continue if the organized crime police don't investigate. It's not always Liverpool as the ''victims'', a lot of other teams' chances are harmed just to keep the competition open.

Liverpool were outstanding. Best performance I’ve seen all season, so controlled and powerful. Arne Slot has walked into a strong and stable foundation laid by Klopp over 9:years. Liverpool were a mess before Klopp much like Spurs before Postecoglou. Not suggesting, Ange is Jurgen who know well - followed him through Mainz and Dortmund while living in Germany, but people need some perspective. Spurs were a basket case when Ange arrived. Their squad is weaker than last year with European football unlike last season. Spurs are mired in mediocrity which isn’t based on the manager and the mentality is changing. So many players out vs stability … nobody asks Pep to play differently, people need perspective.

Troy Deeney was a great journeyman striker. He did what was asked of him but, other than a spell at Halesowen, he never even reached a goal every two games. He never got near a top club as he simply was not good enough. I do not want to insult him because he was still a really top player who could hold a place in a Premier League team - that is a great achievement. He was not, however, in the same league as Mo Salah and should not be mentioned in the same breath. There are a handful of players in the world who you can rely on to get 20 goals a season in the Premier League. Troy Deeney was never one and Mo Salah has been one for years. To talk of Deeney as Ballon D’or material is like saying Cole Palmer should be in Mensa. It is the stuff of fantasy. Even the unbelievably talented Erling Haaland is behind Salah on goals at the moment. If Mo Salah is not world class, who is?
