Shocking how much we throw away. My brother drove a golden hawk in high school that he and my dad fixed up I miss that car to this day. TFS I rarely get excited about new cars. The old cars are my favorite 🤩. Enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Blessings from California.

Two-door cars are sporty-er they're lighter that makes them faster. I think of a four-door as grandfather's car or grandmother's car. And if you drive a four door car you must have children.
@alshotrodsandratrods8780
@alshotrodsandratrods8780 5 жыл бұрын
Most cars were designed as 2 door cars. The design is compromised by adding two extra doors. 4 doors are getting more popular in the states because they cost a lot less than a 2 door.

Great video of this old junk yard!! A long time ago I would have given anything to wonder like yourself through a yard like this, however, to restore any of these cars it would cost not one but two Fortunes and then some. I used to enjoy the hobby till it became unbearably expensive! Good Luck on Police Car project!!

For Alex and Melissa and family My Dad used to have a wrecking yard around Georgian Bay Ontario from 1964-1969 or maybe a bit earlier. It is nice to see these classic cars again. We would have a lot of cars from the 50's; also a wooden panel truck, an army truck etc. We had 124 acres but we used about two farmer fields for the cars. He used the cars for parts and then would get the guy to come from Barrie and crush them when they were stripped. Sometimes I think it would have been "neat" to have kept the hood ornaments. I think they would be worth a lot. This video brings back good memories. The business is probably still running today; by somebody else of course. It it on a rural road not far from town. We moved to the Queen Charlotte Islands in the fall of 1969. We have moved since. I am back in Ontario; most of my family is on Vancouver Island, so I enjoyed your videos of that as well and passed them on to the family as well. Good halibut and chips on the Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria where you where. Going for a visit this spring and plan to go there again. It will be worth it.

I like hitting old wrecking yards too, unfortunately alot of them are run like parts stores now. No browsing allowed, probably for liability reasons. But when I do get the chance I always have: gloves, snake shields, mosquito spray, flashlights, and a stick to poke around at things. Oh yeah, a ziploc bag too, I periodically dig out enough loose change (and a few bill$) from under seats, nooks, and crannies to pay for some gas and sometimes a modest lunch.

The 49 Ford was not a HardTop but a 2 Door Coup sometimes called a business coup and it could have been a 50. BTW why are all of these valuable cars doing still sitting here? A lot of them should have been restored and being driven or in a collection....The rusty 4 door is a 51 4 door sedan...

My dad had a '55 Caddy Eldorado. He is deceased now but have pics of it. I had a '72 Nova in early '80s. Like Chevys. Had Monte Carlos, 1968 baby blue Malibu. Now own a '09 Impala. Also I'm a huge Elvis fan. Nice cars there to be fixed up.

Going here would be better than Disneyland for me. I wanna meet this guy so bad. My own property is starting to look like that. My life goal is to save cars from the 70s and older from the crusher and to restore old vehicles and RVs.

Dodge Colts were re-badged Mitsubishi Galants. There were a lot still driving around Canada in the '80s.

No! The Dodge Colt equivalent in the Mitsubishi line was the Mirage.

@@captobvious891 -OK so the Galant was originally applied back in the 1970s or so. By the 1980s when Mitsubishi brought its own line not badges under either Plymouth or Dodge, it used the name Mirage; at least here in the 'States. The Galant was the prestige mid-sized car offered by Mitsubishi.

The first rule of restoring cars. Understand that you will spend more to restore it than you will ever be able to sell it for.

Back in the 50’s most police departments used 2 door sedans for cruisers. That 1958 Chev, 2 dr sedan would be the perfect vehicle to restore as a place car. Use a 283 c.i.d., 2 barrel with 3 speed on the column and you have the perfect cruiser. I restored a 1959 Chevy Biscayne as a Maryland State Police patrol car. It won every car show that I entered it in. Great fun😎

Having cars parked in grass and not on cement, will cause the frames and undercarriage to rust out.
