6:08 I heard that story and thought that it seemed silly too until my uncle who works at Lockheed Martin on Satellites explained that it made complete sense because using the graphite of a pencil was dangerous in space because if the pencil tip broke off or the dust accumulated on the instruments it was conductive and could cause a short and a fire. Fire is really dangerous in 0g and particles like that are difficult to contain.

First off merry Christmas to you,Mook and the rest of the JYD crew. The Russian space pencil story. Bit of an urban legend. Pilot Pen did the R&D so the only cost to NASA was for the pens themselves. Primarily the reason for the pen over pencil is after the Apollo 1 fire several steps were taken to prevent any possible ignition sources primarily dumping the pure O2 cabin life support but in the case of the pencil concern was the graphite and graphite dust and bits from writing or sharpening coming to rest in electrical switches and components. Graphite while not all that flammable is conductive and concern was graphite bits in zero G coming to rest in an electrical connection and causing a potential fire starting electrical spark.

That Park Avenue that’s burning coolant is most likely a bad intake. Those 3.8 intakes are plastic and they have an extremely high failure rate. I’ve done many. Other than that those engines are indestructible.

That guy had a serious spending problem. Had enough tools to start several shops and enough cars to start a rental company...most of them customised.

Yeah,I don't understand why they would just buy another car when one needs repair. Seems pretty wasteful.
@antonio_fidalgo3 жыл бұрын
@@Scooter30FTW he probably loved cars and to work in cars (that's why so many tools, another weird thing, you don't need so many tools you just need to don't have them scattered around) but ended up being overwhelmed by the number and by the his age and never got around so many stuff. He had to have a small fortune in equipment and cars just lying around. Unless you are Jay Leno and can afford a giant warehouse and your own shop and staff you don't wanna have that many cars.

I just recently bought a '00 s10 (4.3l) so finding this video is really fun for me. It's my first ever vehicle, only thing I'm disappointed in is that it's only 4x2, and its an automatic. Still runs amazingly and only 132k miles. Here's hoping they might be able to do more small trucks in the future!

Great video guys! Only thing different, I'd have tried the brown 59 Chevy to see if it would start. That's my favorite year for Chevy. Probably, an old die hard 283 under the hood. Looking forward to the next video. Happy holidays to you and your families!

Scrolling through KZbin and randomly saw this video. I saw my favorite truck ever on the thumbnail and had to click it. Was not disappointed. I love S10’s and I drive and maintain a slightly-more-rusty 1990 4.3L to work every day. Seeing that S10 nice and clean makes me jealous, not gonna lie, lol. The humor and demeanor y’all have, I really enjoy. Here’s a sub.

happy holidays JYD crew! I'm very excited about the series it looks like there's endless stuff on that property to work on. Do some more cars! I love all the old trucks you do and how much history theyve got, however all these cars may be junk for you but unique for me (even the crapy malaise era boxes). Where I come from (and hopefully a lot of your viewers) is so far away from that American culture that every single thing is like a window to your reality. There's so many trucks around and I understand that each of them has countless different combinations of drivetrains, power outputs, trim levels and so on, but after all theyre just spanning through 3 or 4 generations of different gm/ford trucks. Now they are amazing, but most of the cars in that barn I have never even seen and don't even recognize. Give more love to these post-muscle and regular classic cars in general I think theyre very underexposed today and can be very intriguing. I've watched every video throughout the years (since the 1st) and I'll keep watching. Thanks for the great content in those years and I hope I can do the stuff you do one day. btw this video idea with the camper is amazing do more extreme random stuff like that in the future.

@@jeffrentsch4318 don't get me wrong, the cast iron rods are a hell of a lot stronger than modern powdered metal rods, but they had oiling issues and a tendency to break cranks if you push them too hard.

Given That Your Crew Was Thrown Off The Project (Not Because Of Anything You Did But Because Of The Actions Of Random Idiots) I Would Highly Doubt You Were Able To Take Possession Of Any Of The Vehicles You Worked So Hard To Fix. Fun story: The Fisher space pen (that Kevin was talking about at 6:15) was designed to be able to write in zero gravity. It was funded (around $1mil) by Paul Fisher, the inventor, not NASA. However, the joke about the Russians is just a joke. They don’t use pencils in space because graphite dust is conductive and would get into all the electronics and make for a bad time. The Russians did use grease pencils for a time, but when the Fisher pen came out, the Russians used it too.
