As a retired welder, I'm horrified at the conglomerate of scrap metal that escaped the smelter and was welded in place by Ray Charles. Watching you clean this up will be a lot of fun. Do with it what you will. It will be great no matter what.

I haven't welded anything in 30 years and wasn't great then and I could do better than that with 30 minutes to get my set up right and run a couple practice runs....I mean dang that's beyond unacceptable.... that's why these old units are low mile and cheap...a lot of builders in the 80s and 90s were shady.

You've aptly described the stretch limousine industry of the 80s. I've been in the industry for decades, and I have to say, no builder in the 80s and most of the 90s did a single thing differently. It wasn't until Ford and GM started suing people out of existence who weren't in the QVM (Ford) and CMC (Cadillac) programs that quality started to improve. Places like Ultra were still s**tshows though. Fun fact: 80s Town Cars weren't built much better than what the stretch builders were doing to them. That's why, with VERY few exceptions, 80s Town Car stretches are all "sway back" bent.

In 1989 I had a new Limo built by Vinney at Ultra Limousine! I sat with his designers and planned the car. I signed all the papers, and then watched as the cut my brand new Lincoln in two. I went back home to Phoenix and waited for the finished car! (After watching you under the car I should have stayed and watched the structural work!) Mine was only 30' ( a 113" stretch) and had just one rear axle. The interior was about like your without the bedroom addition. I am trying to find a picture of it. Mine did have 2 TVs and bar. I also had real crystal classware in the car. There are too many stories to tell but suffice to say I had a lot of fun with it. My favorite thing to do with it was to load it up with 8 or 10 friends and have the Chauffer Drive us for a night on the town. That car took me all over Arizona -= including the Grand Canyon and even a gravel road about 10 mile to a well-know ghost town in the Bradshaw mountains. By the way, That 302 engine took the car, full of people, anywhere we wanted to go. It was one of the best toys I ever owned.

I’d keep the middle couch. Turn the bar into a kitchen cooktop/sink and counter/table. Then I would probably update the cheese factor with a bunch of modern LED coloured strips and maybe some EL Wire so you could really blast the colourful 80’s vibe with pink, blue and purple. I’ve seen EL Wire used as a low power consumption “neon” sign. It works. Just need to make an armature to hold the wire, paint it black and affix the EL wire with black zip ties.

Install the promised and long awaited LS6 twin turbo!! Maybe you'll find one motor like that already built and for sell... :) Oh, and all the rear wheels should drive, not just 2. @@BlueXonar Yes, I was wondering about that, as well --- who in his right mind would build a "prestige limousine" THAT way??? Surely there must be commercially-fabricated limo-conversion kits for a Lincoln Town Car, since that's often the model used for this type of vehcile?? And wouldn't you hafta have a safety-examination of your vehicle before being granted a limo-license to carry passengers for hire?? Yearly-inspection requirements, of course, are just a big conspiracy between the states and auto-manufacturers to force people to buy more new cars, not any true "government caring" about human safety --- as far as I know, states that do not require yearly inspections (like Iowa and those other mid-western states; that's likely why whoever converted this limo got away with such a horridly crappy job) do not have any more auto-accidents than states that do require them, like the New England states where I live. But still, this is a ridiculous oversight as far as safety is concerned --- you would think that ALL states should at least require a safety-check for a wholesale conversion of a vehicle that involves the frame or some other major portion that could affect its basic structural integrity.

@@captainamericaamerica8090 I mean if it was just like a proper cleaning, it seemed most of the stuff inside functioned pretty well, you could replace the lighting for under 200$ and a proper cleaning would remove the majority of the stains, paint would probably be able to buff out, the gold parts wouldn’t be too hard to shine up I don’t think it would take too much to make it look good and function inside. The structural stuff would take a ton of money but most of it wouldn’t be too bad

@@greenhouse3505 Varies greatly by location. Our company had a minimum 4 hour booking, except one limo we had set up for Airport runs. I recommend you make some calls locally. Make sure you ask how many limos they have in their fleet, and whether or not they're insured as a Limo . Their are a lot of owner operators that have one limo, and if it dies... you're SOL... we had 8 so if one had a mechanical issue we could cover it. There was a local single owner operator who's limo burned to the ground during a prom. He had to call our company to cover their ride home.

Just because the plug wire ohms out fine, doesn't mean it's not cross firing (arcing). My 92' Caddy had fantastic looking wires and they ohmed out fine but still had misfires like crazy. Sprayed misty water on them at night and it was a light show of little blue sparks bouncing between eachother. With that, ya'll did a good job getting it running! I'm surprised it started and ran all in all that easy for sitting that long. Can't wait to see it cleaned up and the next video on it!! As for ideas, I say keep it original and detail it/restore it. Kind of keeping it as a throwback to the 90's haha.

I fixed and redesigned a few limousine as company I worked for a few years, would buy used and new ones. Yes, it is essentially a car cut on half and mid section added. Some builders were pretty bad. I lost count of how many frames we had to fix over the years to make them halfway safe. Then wiring absolutely a whole another can of worms. They used under gauge wiring to controller and the controller typically right behind the driver seat. I remember the owner buying it cheap for that reason. Thankfully, fire only was behind driver seat and driver used fire extinguisher to put it out. I rebuilt it and rip out all wiring and used proper gauge wiring, new controller and converted over halogen light box to LED which is what passes light to fiber optic in ceiling and of course frame completely overhualed. Still on the road, I believe to this day. Yhea took some work and 10 thousand to make it right and updated the entertainment system and interior. Thankfully, the owner was actually OCD and didn't mind spending money to make them safe. You be shocked on some of the stuff seen even on new limousine from builders had to redesign and repair. Now you can actually buy ones direct from Lincoln, or Cadillac that was a factory limo and not cut up in half from a builder. You do have a couple good builders that actually do a proper frame, but unfortunately most are terrifying and cheap, or scrap materials. They use some designer interior but unsafe framewise. Made for looks but poor quality where it matters. The one shown in this video is up there for being one of the worst I have seen. They used rebar and scrap metal almost everywhere, pretty much? The booger welds are unbelievably bad, no wonder they cracked. Someone had the right ideas designing it, but very poor craftsmanship and cut corners. So definitely the builder that cut corners. If it were mines, I would have to completely strip it down to frame and pretty much have to redo that rear end, frame and run all new wiring and update interior first, before considered dropping a better motor in it. That motor fine that in it beside probably rebuilding it and would be enough to move people around no problem. Yes a 351 is nice. It won't be worth it cost, or time wise. As I would have to completely strip it down to make it right. As not road worthy and that electrical is likely spliced together, instead of making and running new proper wiring harnesses as most cut corners on this area especially.
