That distributor is cool. It just needs a "fuck with thieves" setting, where it erratically provides spark so the engine coughs and spits but doesn't actually fire. Or fires for a second then dies. That appearance that it might run means the thief wastes more time trying to start it, and makes a bunch of extra noise to increase the chance of getting caught with no chance it will actually fire.

I just finished having rear end problems on my hotrod. My father picked up what were supposed to be a 4.11 open diff rear at a swap meet for our 9”. Threw them in and immediately upon rolling the car out it was clunking and clearly not set up right. Pulled them back out, checked and set them up properly and then back in. During the test drive it began chattering and only worsened as we drove so back out again. Preparing to throw the original 2.73s we had back in when my father called me over as he had figured something out. He had both axels in those supposed 4.11s making the realization that this was not an open diff but a limited slip. We did not use gear oil with the limited slip additive so there’s your chatter. Going further we learned that it was also a 3.50 rear end. Father scored a limited slip 3.50 rear and for $80. Works perfectly fine now with the proper additive lol.

I must add that the customer service for Progression ignition is superb, I have a '69 Camaro with a 396 and the Progression distributor is the only piece of tech on it. I had an issue with the engine dying after I installed it, I called support and they just sent me a new one immediately. The new one has been running flawlessly for the past few years. You can squeeze a lot more timing out of it than a mechanical setup and it can adjust on the fly for different throttle positions and RPMs in addition to vacuum advance. They also make a small cap non-HEI version that looks almost stock on my 396.

I looked at him, he looked at me, we grinned, and without any plans (on my part at least), we hit 85 in a 35 down 15th Ave in Longview Washington. I was shfting at 9k through all six gears, and this insane little pickup was right there next to my knee the whole time!!! I put him in the hole by half a bike length off the line, and he never moved off my knee the whole way to the next light. I'd never even heard of a Syclone before then, much less seen one. What proved this to me is seeing the camaraderie that happens when a group of like-minded people from all over the country offer to help each other automatically, even gladly, when breakdowns invariably occur. That's the kind of thing that "they" want everyone to believe simply does not happen anymore. Obviously it does, in an organic and pure way, at PowerTour. Thanks again, Kevin and Mook.

I'm not an expert on home security, but just as a bit of advice to Angus that I've picked up, don't plant the SimpliSafe yard sign in front of your house. The number one piece of advice I consistently hear from home security experts is to not plant a yard sign, as that is basically an advertisement of your security system's vulnerabilities, and a serious or experienced burglar will know how to get past it. It's a method referred to in the IT industry as security through obscurity.

Junkyard Digs is always worth the wait and the format is long which makes it more enjoyable. The very first video I saw of yours that got me into watching you was the one of you, Thunderhead289 and Dylan McCool all working together to get that old blue Ford pickup running that was hiding in the weeds on an abandoned farm. Which I think you eventually made into a two or three part series because it was hard for you guys to get a time do it where you were all together. Also Angus and Mook are total goofballs. :)
@dakotareynolds30494 ай бұрын
Thats the first one I remember watching too. I think I saw it like a year after it came out. Crazy to see how far Kevin's gone while still keeping with his style. I've seen a lot of channels go from "here's an hour long video of us working on a car" to "here's a 15 minute video of this crazy expensive engine, 5 mins of the video is of me putting it in the car and the next 10 is of me fucking around and blowing it up" Like, don't get me wrong, those videos have their place, but man some of these channels just feel like a shell of their former selves when they get that big. And here we have Kevin, over a million subs later and he's still releasing hour+ long videos of him working on cars with his friends. I fucking love it
@Slane5834 ай бұрын
@@dakotareynolds3049 I think Kevin has stuck with the hour long segments because he see's we like that format the most. Especially since he doesn't post videos very frequently the quality can remain high. I would rather have one very long and high quality video once every two or three weeks over a bunch of smaller lesser videos weekly. The videos falling on a Friday or Saturday make them better. What I also like is how the content has evolved from Kevin just finding a random rust-mobile sitting in the weeds for 30 years and getting it running. To sticking with that and adding a segment in explaining what he's doing, what the problem is, what caused the problem and what the fix might be all while getting the vehicle going. Then add on him getting a random three wheeler or snowmobile running later on along with the abandoned farm equipment. All while keeping his original documentary style explanations of what the plan is for the machine of that episode. I know enough about vehicles to fix minor problems and do routine maintenance but I am no mechanic and don't claim to be. I have vintage dirt bike projects I have yet to get around to working on. I don't have a shed or garage to work in so I tend to procrastinate when it comes to working on vehicles outside. I will get to them eventually. :)

Kevin: "It's been a couple hours, as you can see the entire underside of the truck has been coated with rust-oleum rust stopper primer." Me: "In the color of rust." 🤣 I love your videos Kevin. Never stop never stopping my friend!

JYD is one of the best channels on KZbin! As a Ford guy, I’ll even watch a Chevy being wrenched on. That says something about how great this channel is! 😀Appreciate the detailed instruction and cast of characters.

Probably my favorite Junkyard Digs video of all time! This was epic! What an adventure! All of those breakdowns right at the beginning! Are you kidding me? WTF!!! That distributor is straight up GANGSTA!!! Incredible! I have never heard of that company before. All linked to an app on your phone! That is so cool! Genius!!! Power Tour looks like one Hell of a good time! Thanks for letting us tag along!

This video makes me feel better about my C10 and the constant battle to keep him daily driving. He tests my patience. Glad you guys had a blast on Power Tour.

Okay, now I really want to do power tour. I know Kevin will make fun of my car, since he gave one away a few years ago. A 1980 Triumph TR7, stock motor. Yeah, she's slow, but for now runs good. Would I love a new motor, yep. Can I afford a new motor, nope. someday though, someday. Glad you and Mook had a good time and got home safe and sound.

Morsky from morsky repair was pretty impressed. That you guys put his sticker in the back of that Chevy C10 during the hot rod power to her.
